Mantis drive

I've had the game for 3 weeks now and have been doing a lot of trading between Oasis and Lost rucker and been around the northern part of the galaxy and some of the war zones. I have the Starmaster and would like to do some exploring but would like to have the mantis drive before I start but can't seem to find it. Is there some special place for it. any help appreciated.

Made several trips to lost pearl with no luck and have been to 3 war zones with no luck and will try rift space and vonari next.

Thanks to PaulB, I tried his method and after about 7 tries I got the Mantis drive. Now on to exploring.

I do have one more question on building stations, when I try it say's to build -50k to 50k. I tried it several times with the same result. Took my ship to -50k 0 50k and it didn't work.

You will be able to find it in some of the more remote places. Hidden Pearl is a good start.

Sometimes you can get one in a war zone ... or at one of the forward bases in either Rift Space or Vonari.

Hidden planets and WZ are a good starting point - you might have to redock a few times before they are available but I got mine from Pearl Hidden (both times

)

They can also be found in at least one system that are outside the map (I saw one in Lost Rucker). These are different to ucharted systems dotted around in the core

I had to Save Game and exit to the main menu and Launch 3 or 4 times while on Hidden Pearl before one showed up in the City Inventory.

I actually got the Mantis Drive early on by going to the hidden planet in Cerulean.

Since you start out with so little cash, I found that buying equipment in the Cerulean station nearest the Atlas warp gate, then selling that equipment in Atlas was a pretty quick way to get cash.

You'll probably come across higher-grade fulcrum drives in Cerulean, if you don't have them already. So once you have enough money, you can get the C5 drive and then head over to the hidden planet in Cerulean and buy the Mantis Drive. I'm not sure how often it appears there, but it showed up the first time I docked on the planet. I also built a Trade Station in the same sector as the hidden planet and the Mantis showed up there too.

I'm curious if the OP ever found one. It seems to always be in the inventory of the hidden planet near Cerulean.

I can tell you that you should follow the Quest, when you find it and you can also look around the forum.

Originally I found a nice little trading route and it was the key to my success.

I found a Mantis drive at the end of the IMG Quest. (Hidden planet).
You might have to save the game and exit out & reload a few times to make it appear in the stations' inventory. (Each time you exit and re-launch the station inventory changes, I had to do it about 5 times before I could buy a Mantis drive).

Usually, you can also leave the sector and then return.
