Nothing from asteroids

Post by NeghVar »

I am presently in Rucker and have tried mining 10 different asteroids at >200m and no resources are gathered. I have sat at each of these asteroids for a few minutes with the mining beam on and nothing is collected. Any solutions?:(

Need to be closer to the rocks. Beam wont work short of 150.

Hi NeghVar - welcome to the game and to the forum :)

You need to get close enough so you can see the bits of the surface of the asteroid being blown up - your mining beam collects the bits. I usually mine at around 60-70 away.

You mine a bit faster if you keep the beam moving around the surface - not sure why, because the asteroid is spinning slowing under the beam but the Evoverse can be a mysterious place! :D

Hi and welcome.

Also make sure you have empty cargo bays ready.

Around 120 distance seems to be where the contact spot is.

And I recommend you collect Platinum primarily, discarding the rest - You will make more $$ with Platinum!

If you can:
1. Get a Science Officer - He will speed up the cycle,
2. Go buy a Platinum mining laser - Faster cycle again obtaining Platinum even faster.

Odd, for me I find I have to be ~100 meters or less for asteroids.

Yep, about 150 mtrs distance, at the outside, is good for the mining beam deployment. (Tractoring function is about the same distance.) I get within 50-75 mtrs of the target asteroid, then watch my finger positions on the keyboard. Don't care for those negligent asteroid impacts, due mostly to spastic-dyslexic fingers. You can 'prime' your cargo bays by leaving one unit of an item in a cargo bay. That bay will fill with that item. Or, buy a platinum mining beam (wherever located) as others have suggested. (The basic tractor function works as well with the different flavored mining beams.) :):cool:

I usually mine at 60-90 m, seems more effective, specially when the roid spins or while you move the beam.
