I re-rolled a new profile. SPOILERS!

Post by Kkabb »

In my first play-through I spoiled myself with the gamefaqs section for this game and headed straight to pearl hidden after I looted the sapphire guild stash a few times. I ended up feeling like I cheated myself out of some of the early game experience. I was sitting on a half billion creds but the sense of accomplishment just wasn't there. So I re-rolled last night and now i'm sitting on 115mil that I earned, with my legacy back how I like it and I gotta say, it was fun. even the mining bits. I put on my ipod and started making that money using what I learned from playing the game and reading the forums.

SPOILERS!

I started out by mining nebula for stacks of 25 hydrogen which I turned into stacks of 20 fusion which make class 4 fulcrum drives. I was doing this in multiplayer to take advantage of the free constructor stations everywhere so when Dea heard what I was up to he tipped me off to check the sapphire asteroid cave. Good tip! I was able to cut one step by looting the fusion stash in there and going directly to make class 5 jump drives. I sold a few and kept one for myself.

Then it was time to move out of sapphire so I opened up the quadrant economy overlay and cross referenced it with my list of starting faction reputation and there it was! A blue economy quadrant that was also good. NEXT destination, ATLAS! I was winging it really at this point. All I needed was for cerulean or atlas to have some rocks I could mine for metal. Yes, metal! I was dropping diamonds and plat to fill my holds with the beautiful metal. I turned that metal into repair system 3s and sold each one for 500k a pop. After a while of this I had more than enough to buy a station with a research lab in cerulean and enough creds to fill my cargo holds and rocket bays with discounted trade goods (and contraband) to sell in Atlas. The credits snowballed at that point. I only stopped at 115mil because I felt it was more than enough fund me and my crew for a while.

I am more than certain that my way of starting over isn't the most efficient but It worked for me. xD

Sounds like you're 'learning the ropes' fairly well, Kkabb. If your plan works for you, that's really all that matters. :):cool:

Yeah the quests are fun. I got all the way to the end of the I.M.G. missions on my previous profile but at one point I got so fed up with dying that I recruited every green I saw till I had a full fleet. I'll try to do it without a fleet this time.

 I see nothing wrong with hiring a fleet. That's why the option exists. Personally, I save most of the hard stuff until some of the IM clan can help.
