I use CH products (combatstick/throttle/pedals). In the CH manager app, the throttle slides all the way from the top to the bottom as I physically move my throttle between the two ends.
However, in game, the throttle bar doesn't go all the way to the end and back as I physically move the throttle between the ends. This means I am never able to bring my IDS speed to 0 or the very max. It stops at +20 and (max-20).
Any suggestions? Other games that use the throttle see the range correctly.
(Additionally, is the only way to target the nearest enemy Alt+ some key? I would like to keep my hands away from the keyboard, and occasionally I end up targetting alies with "R", while I would have preferred a seperate option for Alt+R .. .any suggestions?)

I assigned targeting to buttons on my joystick. Check the options menu and make sure you have all your buttons and the throttle set according to your specifications.

That is indeed a bit strange since the game merely displays what is sent to it through Windows via the driver. What does the input channel look like in the Windows device configuration menu/control manager? What range does the raw data show for that device? I suspect you'll find your throttle isn't dropping all the way to 0 or the max integer value when tested (maybe something like 230 instead of 255). With CH products, you should be able to expand/contract the range of movement when calibrating as needed if one axis channel isn't using the full range as desired. For details on their throttle product and the latest Control Manager software, visit: http://www.chproducts.com/Pro-Throttle-v13-d-719.html A little googling seems to indicate that using older builds of their control manager software (ie 3.60 vs 4.51) may also result in a 25-75% range of movement only.Any suggestions? Other games that use the throttle see the range correctly.
There are additional options, see page 2 of the key and button configuration menu for individual key and button options for nearest target/enemy. 'O' is the default key.(Additionally, is the only way to target the nearest enemy Alt+ some key? EM is also very sensitive to the true travel of the joystick's axis. While the throttle might be up 100%, in the background the game is reading it at 98%. Many other games will just round up to 100%. EM doesn't seem to do that.
If you use the software that comes with the stick to tweak the control on top of using the settings in-game, you might want to try setting the max input range to give 100% input when the throttle handle is at 98% travel - if it's possible with your set up.

it being an Axis then if you have Deadband set to anything greater than 0 (as I HAVE to do with my Xbox 360) then you probably won't get the Min and Max values (although I would have thought only the Min).
Also, either by default (or you can set it) as "o" and "p" as alternate Nearest and Next Hostile keys respectively so at least you don't have to use Alt for the Hostiles.
As somone else said you can use Buttons (if you have them to spare). I've got 10 buttons and the Dpad as 4 more (using Xpadder *** Thanks Vice ***) and I "Still" wish I had more dang buttons.

I use one button on the joystick to cycle through all targets and one to target the closest enemy. Works for me.

make sure you dont have more than 1 axis assigned to the throttle in evochron control axis settings
check all your device's assignments
I use CH products also with no problem but ,
I use the profiler to combine stick, rudder peddals, and throttle to a single device.
I think I did this to solve an assignment problem but dont remember exactly what it was..
