Hi,
I have a new Desktop PC build I haven't started using yet.
I'm currently playing my games (and EM) on an old Dell Precision M65 Laptop.
Before I got EM I was playing Privateer GG in a 800x600 window and had a text editor and Calc open on the right to keep track of merchant finances.
I can't do that with EM (in a window with other apps open).
The new Deskop PC will be a different story.
It is:
Asus P8Z77V-LX w/ Intel I3 3240 3.4Ghz dual core
8Gb Ram, 256Gb SSD, 1TB partitioned Hdd
Msi Gtx 660 2Gb Twin Frozer
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
22" widescreen 1680x1050 VX2235wm monitor
I know the I3 is mediokre but this new desktop build is really more than I cojld afford as it is.
Here is my comment and questions.
I don't think there would be enough desktop realestate to run EM windowed (if it will) and have any other apps (like evo-metrics or PDF game references, etc) open.
The Gtx 660 as 2 DVI ports
So, can I:
(1) hook up a 2nd monitor (say 15" or 17" LCD) and have the game run on the wide screen and have other Apps open on the 2nd monitor?? I read Windows 7 can do that pretty easy??
(2) If Yes - are there and possible disadvantages or problems that might occur??
(3) Is it possible (easy or difficult) to "mostly" just run with the widescreen and the 2nd monitor turned off??? Or wold it involve like having to disconnect the cable and make windows setting changes to do so??
Thanks if any of you can help.
Believe it or not - before I became disabled I used to be a PC technician - but that was back in the '90s and dual monitor configs is over my head.

I run Windows 7 with two monitors.
The main one has the game in it and the second has Evometrics (all the time) and then a mix of other utilities (travel buddy, EM Tool and various explorer utilities as well as TeamSpeak) as needed. There is no problem with doing this. It's like having an extra cockpit instrument section available at a decent size and resolution. When I was having memory issues (the PC not me - mine haven't got a cure
) I had a memory monitoring and cleaning programme running as well.
I can't imagine using my PC with one monitor anymore. When not playing I can have multiple files open side by side or (for example) my website editor + graphics programme + internet at the same time
I think that you will love it!
