Hi everyone.
I am a new player in the evo-universe.
Bought the game about a month ago. I love it.
At last, a space sim that's actually... a space sim.

There is only one problem for me with the game,
the framerate drops, from 60 to 40 (facing planets and
planet side). as described at the beginning of the thread.

I've tried everything in the book to maximize performance
to no avail.

intel quad-core 9550 2.83g/h
4gig ddr2 ram Kingston
ati hd5770 1gig

can someone help me ?

tried lowering details / aa
fps limiters
with and without mods
with without radeon pro and its optimizers

should work fine with my pc

thanks for answears

_sorry for my English, I am a french Canadian_

see you in space...

The performance you report sounds about right for your system configuration. Any time you are in a scene with more detail, the framerate will generally decrease. This is true of being planet-side, sometimes in a nebula cloud, in planet rings, or near a lot of ships flying near/around you. You can expect some variation under these conditions, but 40-60 fps is consistent with the type of system configuration you have. Higher performance would require better performance components. Also, check to make sure you're not using a locked Vsync screen mode in the Options menu as that would cap your framerate.

thank you sir.
i was afraid that i might get that answear,
it is time for i new pc i guess, doh ! :(

i have one more question,
when i shut down the hud, my framerate stays at 60 fps
all the time (with v-sync on) is there a way to "render"
the hud so it doesn't hit the cpu or gpu so much, that it cuts off
20fps or so ?

addition edit: I had the same exact problem when i
used to play x3, performance overall was great
exept with hud on.

thank you in advance.

Again this looks like performance related to your components.
The HUD itself is a separate 3D render, with its own shadows etc.
If it was a prerendered 2D overlay, maybe you would stay in 60 FPS but would not look right (no proper internal shadows etc.) when you moved your head around OR Vice would need to implement a separate 2D-HUD HAT mode (like X-Plane and Flight Simulator), but is a whole different display mode. I would prefer Vice to put work on other things instead, than implement something of the 20th century.

On a different subject, keep v-sync on. The benefit of not having the artifacts people get in v-sync off (and you are not playing an FPS), for me outweight the spikes that v-sync off allows. These days EVERY game I play is either v-sync on, or off my hard drive.

Are you using the "V" key to switch views?

Do you think turning off all shadows hud related
using the customizing kit might help ?

Vice is the one to say that.
Yet if the drop is down to 40 fps, then it is still rather playable. I wouldn't make the game uglier* for just that.
Then again you know your own priorities.

* this game especially must not become uglier... :P

I agree, it is beautiful,
and it is very playable.

I'm probably being difficult.
I just want it to be so immersive without
being put off by ugly stuttering.

forgive me.
