Hello dear Vice !
I just wanted to ask if it is planned to add Occulus Rift support to Evochron Mercenary and if the answer is yes, when it could be finished?
I would love to fly this awesome game with Occulus Rift.

Thank you very much for this game and everything, and i look forward to enhance my favorite space-sim with my childhood dream of true virtual reality.

Occulus Rift Support
Hello,
This does come up once in a while and I'd certainly be interested in implementing (native) support for it, if not in an existing game, possibly in a future project. I have reached out to them and hope for a positive reply on trying to move forward with it (there are some unique requirements involved to integrate such a thing with these games).
Evochron Mercenary (and Arvoch Alliance) were both recently updated to better handle 3D rendering (you can see some screenshots of Evochron in 3D here: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17102 ). This included adjusted display, radar, HUD, and indicator positions, along with scaling and depth adjustments, iirc. So the game is technically functional for 3D rendering, although results will likely vary. Some are running the game in 3D modes and at least one has been trying out Oculus with it via VorpX ( http://www.vorpx.com/ ). They can also apparently enable the Mouse Look view mode to move the pilot's head around when desired. Here is a video showing this:

Although that is with a custom modded cockpit, which likely displaces some of the changes applied recently to improve 3D functionality. The spherical clipping and narrow field of view will obviously make it a bit challenging in some regards. You'd likely have to pan your view around a bit to observe certain readouts and details that are normally visible on a regular monitor. But if you have an Oculus Rift and VorpX, you can probably get it up and running without too much difficulty, if you want to try it now in its current state. I'd also appreciate feedback on your results, if you'd be willing to send me a quick e-mail (starwraith.com > contact) after you've tried it.

No, not yet. If/when there is, I'll post an announcement.
