having trouble with muit-player

Hi all
I have had this game on the pc for months and have got back into it, (in single player mode) and having got the hang on it (????) i wanted to play muti-player But when i press the button it says that there is a new version.... i go to the web site and click the link it then says that i already have the version that i am trying to download (i have version v2.408) any help would be great ....
