Downloaded 8.1 Pro Preview Evaluation

After Vice posted his findings on Windows 8 I became interested in try the Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro Preview Evaluation.

I have been playing Mercenary with my 7 year old PC using Windows:
1. XP
2. Windows 7 Home
3. Widows 8 Pro

And now I downloaded Windows 8.1 Pro and played Mercenary on my old AMD Gateway with four GB ram and 1 GB AMD Graphics Card.
I noticed a 5FPM increase and much sharper graphics.
I was only on for a short period. The upgrade was easy with no apparent driver issues. If I find anything weird or good I will report them.

So far Windows 8.1 Pro offers better graphics, better frame rate, etc..... I did not experience any disconnects, but I did not go on Cronic's server. I went on Galactica's server (England). I live in Chicago so I thought what an extreme test. Starbuck server worked beautifully.

My FPS jumped from the high 30's to low 40's with Windows 8 Pro to mid 40's to as high as 55 FPS with Windows 8.1 Pro. But going on a planet my FPS dropped to the low 20's which is was Windows 8 Pro did.
These improvements occurred after I discovered that both AMD and NVidia offer Windows 8.1 Beta drivers. I download my AMD 8.1 drivers and saw more performance. The game graphics alone has given me a more dramatic visual improvement. I saw the same visual improvements in my other multi-player games as well.

Thanks for the info. I do plan on upgrading to Win 8 sometime and its nice to know they have made improvements for us gamers between 8.0 and 8.1
