Racing is really irking me

Post by Itharus »

Hi, the starter quest involves racing... but the %$#$&*$@#($*&%#$*&#%$@&*%^@$#^*$%@$^*@$^(@#($^*%$@^*($%@#*$^(@#$(*@#$%@#^$ other ship keeps ramming me and knocking me out of the course - there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. If I speed up anymore than I am going I slide right out of the course. What can I do about this? It's extremely frustrating... the damned tunnel is too narrow :(

Another problem is the color/opacity of the track. Sometimes a planet is a backdrop against the track - when that happens I simply cannot see the track at all... that light pale see-through green just disappears into Sapphire. As a result - I miss the track. Is there anything I can do about this? Like, is there a way to make the track really bright red or something?

Try this :

Just focus on what you get and ignore the other racer.

:o I feel your pain. As SeeJay will attest, me and the EMX race do not get along at all. There are dozens of dead pilots who dared to beat me in the race ... only they never finished the race (neither did I but that's not important). As for the color, DL the Customizing Kit here:

It gives you the option to change the color of the boxes to whatever works best for you. I find that light blue does a fairly good job.

Hi and welcome.

I confirm what Marvins said. He really can't handle the race ... at all LOL!;) (Sorry Marv).
He is not alone regarding that tho. Many pilots have a hard time doing them.

Look at it this way. When you are able to pass a race, you have really improved your flight skills.

I found a way of doing them that works really well for me.
- Ignore your opponent completelly.
- Never fly in inertia mode.
- Accelerate in the start so that you get ahead of your opponent.
- I always roll so that I take the turns by using "rudders", never using pitch to "turn" in a tube.
This way you will fly it like a hovercraft skidding through the turns and can easily compensate by using rudder
and afterburner if you have to.
- Keep your speed above 1000 and try to stay as close to the center as possible.
- If you perfect this technique you can do it a bit faster and your opponent will never catch up with you.

A good way to practice is to challange someone in MP but you fly it alone to practice in the tube.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

 Well, I slopped together a race course which is easier to follow (see attachment). Not very pretty ... but it sure can cook.

:( It didn't help much though ... just made it easier to see when and where I drift out of the course tube.
