New to multiplayer questions

Post by Redjoker »

I have been playing mercenary for the past month and am liking it so far and want to try mp but, have some questions. What would be a good server for a new player, what happens when you die in multiplayer, and are your mp and sp pilots separate in terms of money and ships?

MP SP profiles are the same. Death means you restart at last save, and any server with people on it is good.

Hello Redjoker and welcome! In support of Bro Dingo, check the MP-server listing when you're next about to launch the game. Last I checked there were about eight game-servers available. One of those "requires" an MP-only profile. Fly where you get the best ping/frame rate. Or, pick one most populated and fly with others. You'll be flying with others on the game-server anyway, which ever one you choose to lite upon. Do co-ops, or participate in PvP bouts/jousts, as you're persuaded. It's a pretty open environment. Some basic game-prep is advised, mostly in the way of the various game info sources. Training vids and background info on the Mercs web-site, and the game instructions as well are real good starts. Most all of the active pilots who fly any of the game platforms, would be willing to assist in your endeavors. All you need do is log on to a populated game server, and ask for help. :)

Hello Redjoker, Your pilot profiles are the same for MP and SP unless as one server states it is an "MP ONLY" server then you need a profile that was created for and only played in "MP". Welcome to the Sim and the forum.:)

Yeah I'd recommend just going on MP and asking for help if needed. MP adds so much value and support for this game that I barely play SP anymore. Hoping to see you online (I mainly play the Optimus Prime FR server)

Hi RedJoker

Welcome! MP is excellent for help and advice. Sometimes the servers can be pretty empty - time zones and the fact that a lot of players are in the USA, some in Europe, some in Australia.

If you right-click on a server (left click joins it) you get a list of who's logged on. Mid to late evening UCT / GMT seems to be a popular time.

:)
