[EA] I can't install...

Hi!
I've bought "Evochron Alliance", German version released by The Games Company. And I can't install it. When I've launched setup.exe, I hear CD rotating, but after a while CD stops. I've tried to copy whole setup.exe on HDD, but this is impossible (probably due copy protection). CD is brand new, DVD-ROM also...

That's nearly a decade old now (even prior to Windows Vista), so even if you could get the disc/installer to launch, the game won't likely work on newer versions of Windows that Microsoft phased out certain functions of (that XP had) which the game depends on to operate. If you're running Windows XP, then there's a chance it might still work on your system, but I couldn't explain why the disc wouldn't be reading. It didn't come with disc-dependent copy protection that I know of, so it may be the disc itself is damaged/defective or the drive is unable to read it for some other reason. If you e-mail me your purchase details, I can likely get you set up with a download version of the game that may work if you still have XP. starwraith.com > contact

Vice, thanks for reply. I know, this game is quite old. I have still Windows XP SP3 and demo version of Evochron works flawlessly. This is version released by German "The Games Company". Unfortunately, this company doesn't exist now. Why I think, this game is protected? Because on game box is written "This CD is copy protected", and when I'm trying to copy "setup.exe" file (which has over 600 MB), copying stops on 98%. This is characteristic for copy-protected CDs. I will install it, because this is German version, not English. And really, I can't believe, the brand new disc will be damaged (visually it is clean)...

EDIT:
I think, this game is protected by ProtectDISC. I've found info on Internet...

Could be an incompatibility with the copy protection system they used and your drive. If you still want to try a download version at some point, just let me know.

Thanks Vice, but I've fooled this copy protection. It was Sisyphus 1.52. Which version of EA was last? Mine is 1.798G. Was newer?

For EA 1.X, that's basically one of the last builds. From there it went on to 2.X.

EA 2.0 is no longer for sale. Part of my offer to you was for you to acquire the last build of EA 2.0 via download as an upgrade from the build you could not install on disc.
