Using TS FPS Improvement Tip

Post by Star King »

Anyone using Team Speak should consider switching from voice activated to holding a key down to talk.
Captain Cronic, Flash and I were PvPing. As an experiment I switched from voice activated to press a key and talk mode. My frames increased a minimum of 10 FPS with Ping and FPS holding solid 49 to 52 FPS. Without TS on at all I get around 55 FPS.
Voice activated talk gave me eratic FPS and ping.
My PC is a 3.0 GHZ dual core Windows 8 Pro 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram and 1 gig AMD 6450 graphics card.

:o But don't try assigning the same key used for the in-game chat. The latest version of TS3 will give you a pop-up window, asking if you really want to delete your current channel, whenever you press the NumPad Delete key.

I was unable to use the voice activation last time as something prevented TS to "feel" the button press when the game was maximized on screen.

Luckily I have no FPS so I can keep voice activation.
Best regards

Anything above 30 fps your eyes cannot see the difference so going from 49-52 fps to 55 fps seems a bit redundant.

 For some people, the critical flicker factor (yes, that's what it's really called) is more like 40 cycles per second. Which is why alternating current runs at either 50 or 60 cycles per second ... and why movie projectors use rotating blades to divide each frame into more that 24 frames per second (prior to developing the bladed aperature, movies would "flicker" ... which is how they got the nickname ... causing some patrons to come away with a headache).

Captain Cronic was monitoring my ping and FPS and reported a stable reading when using press to talk. Voice activation appears affect bandwidth which effects FPS and ping.
