EM & Social Media

Post by Viper »

This post is in fact a direct message to Vice, but since it will definitely be interesting to see the feedback from the community, I posted it here on the forum.

Hi Vice,

When I thought about sharing EM (or SW3DG for that matter) on my Facebook, I noticed that there aren't a lot of options on the site to do so. On the bottom of starwraith.com there's a bookmark widget that lets you share the link to the site, but if I looked well enough, that's about it.
There is the Twitter option, but a lot of people don't use Twitter, I at least don't know anyone who does. Other media like Facebook seem to be far more popular.
I also noticed that EM's Facebook page isn't up to date.

I was wondering why this is. We all know the power social media has these days, and although it would be an additional strain on your schedule to post regular updates, personally I'm pretty sure it would also boost the sales, which would easily offset the time invested.

There are two pages that, by my opinion, could be specifically useful to share on a social media page:
The StarWraith news page, and the Dev Log (which also doesn't seem to be up to date).
As a potential new paying customer of EM or AA, I would be particularly interested in those pages.

As a strong supporter of indy developer, community projects etc, I would really like to share anything EM related on my Facebook page and hopefully help out that way. And I'm absolutely confident the majority of the community feels the same way. But the options to do so are too limited at the moment.

So my question is, how do you feel about investing in this a bit more? Maybe you don't have to participate in every available platform, but maybe you could run a poll here on the forum to see which platform would be the most popular?...

Hola Viper!!!

Aall the social networks need time for post news, updates, the replys, etc i think... and Vice is the only one in sw3dg...

And i prefer a simple mail list for example :P

Saludos!

EDIT: I Wrote in the EM group in Facebook ;) xD

I do agree with Viper, it will help a lot something like this. Maybe a fan page if Vice is ok with this, from players that have loved and stick to the game.

I tweet about EM a lot as I want more word to get out there about this. I am also trying to put word of the game out on reddit more as I feel a lot of redditors would be interested in this game.

I agree that this game would have a larger player base if it had been more marketing but I guess that's partly our job to help an indie game get its legs. We should try to do more for Vice as we all know he is busy.
