Mining Probe?

Post by Jemimacakes »

Hi,

So I just got a deploy constructor and I was going to test out the mining probe function, but I find that It says "No Planet, Moon, or asteroid at deploy location...."

Ive tried deploying it near, inside, right beside, everything. I am in the center 8 sub-sectors if that is even a requirement of the mining probe.

What's up?

Thanks,
Jemimacakes

EDIT: Nevermind, Perspective got me. I though the deploy location was WAY smaller than it is. Another Question I have though is does the probe cost anything to use?

Mining Probe?

The mining probe is designed to pay out a lot more than it costs to use. Keep in mind that it will usually deliver more than one crate ... and I don't remember if the crates remain in place if you jump out of the sector (if they do, it isn't for long ... AI will pick them up). Ergo, find a sector where you can deploy your probe and also sell what you collect.

Mining Probe?

Yep, what Marv says..:) Buy and install the Deploy Constructor as ships' equipment. It may be used on asteroids and planetary surfaces, at least so far as I've done. Each time you deploy the mining probe, you may take a credit and a fuel hit. However, the worth of the commodities gained, over time, exceeds the initial cost of its installation. Also think about deploying a shield array whilst mining those pesky red-infested areas. Drives 'em nutz! ;)
