map view of two sectors contiguous?

Post by DORN »

1.Is there any way to view two or three, or more sectors and their planets, stations, etc. all at once?

2. Is there a way to plot a jump through a gate into another sector to a point in that sector and see this set up on the map?

Hi Marvin,

Thanks for the info.

I just realized that what I meant to ask ...is there a way to view two or more systems, and their contents, together.

No ... not that it would do much good anyway. The only non-stationary objects you can see on the Nav Map are other players ... and AI ships if you deploy a sensor array. Currently, other players only show up if you're linked. And sensor arrays are destroyed whenever the sector is abandoned. A nice wall map (with planets, stations, pods, etc.) would be cool, though.

 I'm reminded of a map somebody did for the "boxes" of X-3 ... where all the objects in each sector were included. Something similar to the zoomed in sections of MapMan's map ... except where all the pieces are fitted (fitted ... is that a word?) together. (I might need more wall space.)

For number 2 there is a way, but not exactly as you want it.

You can use your Map log entries to set destination Coordinates and then jump with your Nav Map log open and after each jump click on the next Map log entry and jump to your next point.
So all you basically do is jump from Map log point to tne next Map log point......You can even set coordinates so that you jump from Gate to Gate using coordinate addition adjusting to get quicker from a system using the gates to another system!.......But this takes a lot of prep work in the Nav Map Log!.....;)
