Cannot complete the first mission...

Well i picked up this game and am trying it out and realized there was a campaign story to do. So i flew to New Hope like i was told and picked up the satellite. The way point brings me to a battleship in orbit with a green box. However whenever i get within 1k meters from the box i hear 'contract objectives failed' and the ship jumps away...

Im pretty sure bringing the satellite to the ship in orbit is within the objectives of 'bring a satellite to the green box by the ship in orbit'

anyone have any clues? Or if all else fails a console command or something to skip this mission?

Hi and welcome.

When you reach the ship, fly to the green
box and jettison the satellite inside it.

If tou accidently jump out of the sector
you will fail contract.

Delivery contracts are rather straight forward. But, as with every contract, never leave the sector until the contract is completed. And, if you're in multiplayer, make certain nobody else in the same sector leaves the sector while you're in the middle of the contract. (For example, I needed to transit from Sapphire to Fauston while in MP ... but didn't want to bork any contracts other players were doing. So I asked in chat. Nobody responed, so I took the gate, leaving at least two other pilots to their business in the same sector.)

No no no. Im not jumping out, or having trouble doing the contract. Ive done plenty delivery contracts before. My issue is i cant even get CLOSE to the box before i fail. This is what is do.

1. Land on New Hope
2. Accept contract
3. Fly into orbit and approach ship
4. Fail the contract when i get within 1000m of the ship.

I dont take any detours or side missions. Just straight point a to b. Total time from accepting and failing the contract is about 30 seconds. My ship doesnt get near the green box before i fail. Even when i approach it going max speed still fail it.

PS im playing in SP right now

The only other thing I can think of is: do you have room in your cargo hold for the satellite?

Hmmmm ... even if you attempted to jettison the satellite early, the game wouldn't let you. I do dozens of delivery contracts every time I'm on line and did at least one satellite delivery yesterday ... no problem. So I suggest you drag a copy of that pilot profile to a safe location and wait for Vice to comment.

KingGladiator, please e-mail me a copy of the profile you are using (starwraith.com > contact). What I suspect may be happening is you were in the game long enough for the planet New Hope to rotate far enough that the main city now points south on the nav map. So when the contract is accepted, the waypoint is placed above the city in space, which may be too close to the edge of the sector, especially if the capital ship has enough time to move significantly while waiting. With your profile, I can test and confirm this and should be able to have it fixed for the next update. In the meantime, you could run other contracts for a while until the planet rotate further and the city is in a different orientation, then try again.

Yup that is exactly what it is. The city is facing south and the ship is directly above the planet. Ill email it to you in just a bit.
