Military ranks

Hello and what a surprise this game turns out to be.
I just bought it on Steam and it reminds me of the old days of elite, I am having a blast here.

I have a question though,
Right now I am a LT JG and the next rank starts with LT at 50 points.
I read somewhere that the ranks are made up of missions done and every 10 kills you gain a point.
I have done 45 paid contracts with 88 kills but still am LT JG and shouldn't it be the next rank already?

A small little thing which annoys me a bit is when you autodock with anything kill the engines already. It is a bit of a nuisance when you forget to do it yourself it costs fuel.

Hello Seejay,

I know the military ranks and the points needed and just doing my 50th mission made me LT so I can now see that only missions give me ranking points in the millitary.

ALT-F3 is not what I wanted and did not solve my speed while docked issue.
I don't want to turn off auto docking, I want to turn off speed automatically when I dock.
My engines are not killed when the screen pops up and I can hear them going in the background and my fuel keeps going down untill I press backspace....in the dock.

Hi blackbird,
Most of us just switch to Inertial when we approach the middle part where you dock, that will let you dock and the engines won't run your tank dry

Keyboard space bar toggles IDS on/off.

Hi Blackbird, welcome to the game and forum!....Hope to see you out there some time!.....

I do not know if the point system for military has changed in the Expansion!....It used to be that contracts done in the Warzones only gives you military ranking points and I do not remmember if the 1 point for every 10 kills applies to only Vonari kills in the warzones for millitary points or that this is something just for the Civil ranking system that every 10 kills of rebbels and guilds give you 1 point for every 10 kills. You might have 88 kills but they might be the wrong kind(Navy, Energy or Miners).....

Hello, thanks for the input.

I found out the quickest way to gain military ranks is to do those waypoint missions.
Each waypoint gives you a rise in military ranks.
Having gained the Evoch-c and going for the 150 points military ranks as we speak.
