Lost or headed right

Post by kb5ixd »

Hi Folks
Well I been playing about half a dozen hours.
Here is where I am at:

Sapphire System
Fuel 1599
$984,755
Trade 1,397,400
Frame: Saber
Engine: 2 (S:538)
Shield: 2
Cargo Bay: 5
Fuel Tank: 1600 (1599?)
Wing Sys: 3
Crew: 0
Equipment: 6
CM: 2 X 25
Hardpoints: 2
--------------------
Mine/Tractor Beam
Repair Sys C3
Shiels Battery X2
Fulcrum Drive C2
Cargo Scanner C2
Cannon Relay Sys
---------------------
P: IceSpear
B: Metal-Vapor
---------------------
1: Echelon
2: Echelon
**** End ****

I keep looking for a larger hull and there is never one here at the space station - I tried to go to the planet - got all the way down - could see the buildings/city and flashing light speed was under 100 flight was stable - It said it was changing to planet mode - at this time I started end over end flips - total loss of any control.

First question - anyone have any idea what went wrong when it whent to planet mode??

Second Question - two parts - do I have to leave Sapphire system to get/buy a bigger frame? AND is this build strong enough to survive out side of the starter system (single player mode)

When I was playing privateer last month it was not this hard - Oh last month 1994 or so - Oops

I am 55 BUT can learn new tricks - I was a beta tester for beyond protocol - now that was a brain teaser.

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you were heading down to the planet, did you have your IDS on? And if you did did you have your speed set to something over 300? Having your IDS off or having too low a set speed can cause you to lose control high up in the planet's atmosphere.

You do have to leave Sapphire to find better ship frames and equipment, and your current equipment should be adequate. Until you're a bit more used to combat though, maybe consider staying away from Thuban or the systems "south" of Sapphire. It's easier to find good equipment in the southern sectors (Pearl especially), but they tend to be hostile and well equipped.
There are two great joys in the Evoverse: watching one\'s bank account grow, and making stuff blow up in spectacular ways.

Well you are doing better then I am and I have about 10hrs in lol.. As for the planet flight, just keep your speed over 100 or more and flight is like in space. Same for docking.. It just sucks you right in.

thanks

Well thanks folks - thats where I went wrong - slow speed
I had it set at 1 - I think that is 54

However IF I can not get a bigger frame in sapphire I am stuck.
I gota leave this system.

I don't know IF I can get a bigger cargo hold (5 X 25) but I know if I can it's going to take a bigger frame.

Do the cargo holds get bigger - I'm thinking they got to.
Also I can only equip one (1) mine/tractor beam - is that the same for all frames?

Thanks for all the help - lots of questions - lots of of trial and error.

Scoreboard so far - trial 5% - error 95% - LOL

You don't need a better frame to leave Sapphire, and you're not going to get a better frame until you do.

You can get a bigger cargo hold in Sapphire if you want. Just downgrade your other parts. As long as you aren't going anywhere, it won't be a risk to do so.

You can only equip one mining beam, but if you go further out you can find specialized mining beams that will only mine one kind of material (assuming it's available).

 No, the most you can outfit your civilian ship is with five cargo bays. But you can also use the missile hard points to store missiles for trade. Those can be maxed out to eight. For a total of 13 places to port weapons. Military ships, on the other hand, are maxed out at one cargo bay.

Well, the "real" Miners mine all sorts of stuff: Shipwrecks, Asteroids, Planet surfaces-[metallic commodities/water/atmosphere (oxygen)], Star coronas, and Nebulae "clouds" - to name a few. Some miners are reporting that the standard M/T-beam is best to have/employ, because of the differing commodities contracts offered across the breadth and depth of the Quadrant. If you've noticed, there are other "flavored" M/T-beams available: Metal, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Although the Gold appears to work solely on planetary surfaces, all function-as-designed well enough and each will perform in tractor-mode for those infrequent crate/pod retrieval contracts, as well for loading-up water or oxygen. Certain areas in Oly Primus, Saph, Atlas the Minor, and the Wolf Zone are fairly safe and somewhat lucrative for mining operations. Jist depends on where's ye git it and where's ye sell it!
