1. Yes. When you call up the list of servers, right-click on a server name and you'll get another list ... this time it'll show everyone currently on that server. After you log in, use the tilde key (~) to find out where (which sector) each player is located.
2. If you have a civilain ship, you'll want a crew. Each crewmember has special skills ... most of which will come in handy at some point or another.
Hi Wolfie, welcome to the game and forum!.....Hope to see you out there some time!.....
1. Depending on your time zone it can be quiet at some times and busy at other times on different Servers!
2. Yes, crew can come in very handy, but for more advanced maneuvering like jumping directly to a Planets City Docking Bay in case of an Emergency your Navigator is useless!
Other than that the Navigator can be usefull for preventing jumping through planets disasters!.....:P

Thanks for all the replies, i didnt know about the right click thing :p
Heres another one - reputation. Ive read the hints and tips book, ive trawled here, but im still confused!
To raise my rep with a faction, i gotta do missions, right?? But i flew to a planet that was supposedly in alliance space, shouldnt i be safe? Coz the alliance - apparently - like me?
Alliance likes you but there is a "treaty" between the Alliance and the Feds which allow each to do business in much of the other's air space (space space?). And, of course, the Rebels and Guild pilots work for themselves. Some will be hostile and others not so much.
Well, it's old. I think the game is about 10 years old now. But still it would be fun to play today I think. The graphics are not that good anymore for today's standards, but there are still a lot of Freelancers modders out there who make great mods for it.
Anyway, never mind then. Thought the name and your writing style seemed familiar to me.
