Countermeasure Effective Reduced?

Did the new expansion make countermeasures less effective at deterring missiles? I haven't seen a single missile stopped by one of my countermeasures since installing the expansion.

There have been several changes to the missile and CM systems. Missiles are tougher than they were before, they're not as easy to fool or destroy with CM's. They are functionality more effective and useful now with a higher capability to retain a lock. Also, you'll need to pay close attention to the heat you are generating. More heat from your ship means the missile will have an easier time staying locked on you. If you reduce your heat signature and use CM's, then you'll find they're still plenty effective. There are just some new tactics that need to be applied to account for the more relevant and visibly observable heat signature system. If nothing else until you become familiar with the new system(s), start launching countermeasures farther out to give them more time to act.

The meter above the pipper on your HUD is a fairly accurate representation of your ship's total heat signature.

i would suggest buying an anti missile pod , does'nt stop them all but get maybe 2/3 if your going a good speed . Also releasing CM early is part of it but not a completely effective if you don't manage your heat.

I always launch CM's manually and have no problems with incoming missiles.

It's all about timing and making your heat signature as small as possible.

Practice makes perfect! ;)

It does indeed fly differently. Ship mass is taken into account much more significantly in EM2. This also gives players more reasons not to get the heaviest ship they can afford.
Now you have to make a choice between armor, agility and acceleration. Have fun!

I'm pretty sure I've lead missiles into enemies by dropping my heat signature and buzzing right by them. I'm not positive but I'm pretty certain. I know I try to do this regularly against AI in the old system. Can't wait to try it on the new one!!!

I'm very happy for the missile changes too.
