life after the i.m.g.-quest?

Post by eagleray69 »

well, i recently finished the awesome img quest and now: i got more money than i will ever spend, found all the good stuff to upgrade my ship to the most high tech level, but after finishing some more free contracts, i´m a little lacking an idea what i could do next...
is there any other quest i could start? i started another profile as combat pilot, but it seems to me that they are doomed to window cleaning and stuff like that; no quest found so far...
i´m talking about SP, not MP.
any ideas?

cheers, ray

Now the real fun begins. Get yourself in MP. Go against greater odds, Do some combat with real people, explore the universe, do a road trip to Sol, join a clan, search for new systems and treasures, try racing, mod your ship, improve your combat skills. When you say you have upgraded your ship to the highest tech level what do you have for equipment and weapons. What ship are you flying now?

 Download and install Atollski's mod and go explore ... find new star systems and claim new territory by posting your discoveries at SeeJay's website. Then continue to check his site and prepare to play a new Quest mod sequel.

Give your money to noobs who need better equipment. They'll hate you for ruining the game for them, but therein lies the fun.

hey thanks, that´s a lot of useful information! i definitely will try the MP soon, but i wanted to check first what´s more in SP. i tried to download the update, but the site seemed to be down.
@parapilot: my ship is a starmaster, atm equipped with phantom cannon, fusion laser and exodus missiles and a very skilled crew. it also has the mantis jump drive installed, the afterburner-enginge, the heat sink, the cannon relay and the anti-missile-system; and my hangars contain some other stuff like shield-reloader and the stealth device, excal-pack, fulcrum, etc. - is there anything else i could find? maybe in newer systems? when docking to a station or city, i find always the same stuff i already have.

have fun!

No, that's about it, but I don't think that's the best loadout you could have. ;)
Besides that, I think you are missing the bigger picture as well. For example, how much exploring have you done outside or even within the known systems?
Have you ever been to "Hidden Pearl" or "Lost Rucker"?
Have you tried visiting earth or even the Vonari system?
I dopn't see this game as just travelling around building what a player thinks is the "best equipped ship" and letting it go at that. This game is about Exploring &Trading and I am sure that you have passed by a lot of interesting places in your search for the best equipped ship. I might also point out that there are several military ships available that can fly rings around your Starmaster!
You should try MP to see what you are really missing!
Good Luck & have fun! :D

don´t get me wrong: i´m not bored or something, just wanted to see what you guys are doing after the quest. i´ve been to the 4 pr 5 "hidden" planets, but not to lost rucker and i know that my exploration didn´t go far beyond the quest limits. maybe i´ll visit earth today ;)
what in your opinion would be the best loadout to have? i like flying with crew, so militarian frames maybe won´t do it for me, and yes, of course the starmaster has the agility of a big truck. i´m trying at the moment different combinations of wings/engines/shields to make the best out of it.

by the way: this game is really amazing! it has the most astonishing sceneries i ever saw in a space sim nd physics are great. i still remember the "wing commander" series which i think was in the 1990´s and this is like a hyperspace jump compared to that.

thanks all for your infos!

cheers, ray

There is always exploring to do. I'm on a mission to try to find everything. :P

There are hundreds of uncharted systems out there. Try to find them!
Also try landing on Earth is a quest I've been at for a while, not succeeding yet.
Resulting in very nice fireballs. LOL!

You can travel really far out there. I haven't found any limits yet. Of course, I haven't
been as far out as Gorf yet, only -9000, -9000 without jump gates.:D

You haven't found the Stealth Generator and Fulcrum Torpedos? Have you tried using a Fulcrum Torpedo to complete a combat mission in a few seconds?....;):P

You mean complete and fail a combat mission simultaneously in a few seconds. :P

Have you made it to Rift Space or even Andromeda? Have you made hundreds of billions from gunrunning? Have you gotten every system to "Good" reputation? And all that is just a taste of what's in SP.

I have to admit I've not even done the IMG quest yet, been too busy improving my ship and making some money, doing some exploration and trying to relearn how to fly lol.

 Then you have barely scratched the surface. And, if you fail to do the Quest, you'll never get the opportunity to try out Seejay's Quest Part II ... an interactive experiment in combining in-game play with on-line story telling.

It takes some practice and ingenuity to learn how to do this without combat mission failure. The point is it can be done and there is a trick to it. The only thing is that Fulcrum Torpedos are an expensive way to complete missions and you will not be making a profit....but making profit out of a war situation is unethical anyways....LOL....;):P

LOL....Marv......you'll thank me for the credit if docked at a Station in the same sector where I use Fulcrums to complete missions. I only use them when I want to change a system from hostile to good fast you'll make a lot of credit hanging around while I do that....;):P:P:P:P:P

urm, I don't think anyone has done that while I'm around them - what happens exactly? is it a clan thing?

If you are in the same sector as someone else that are doing a contract, you will get credit for
completing the same contract as well.;)

Post by eagleray69 »

ok guys, in the meantime i visited riftspace, vonari and andromeda, lost rucker and sol also, all very nice, really, vonari seems a little small to me, but maybe there are hidden planets too? who knows... but to be honest, i don´t have that much time to explore for hours in an area i´m not even sure to find something new, i´ve got an exhausting job and a 2year old son (not to mention my gf), so if i can manage it to have 1 hour or 2 with the game, i want some more action than scanning dark sectors, sorry.
i earlier tried the fulcrum torpedos but didn´t survive one single attempt; maybe you should be able to adjust the preset distance where it explodes imo.
btw, i was also on MP but its very similar to SP or not? is everyone just completing the same contracts as in SP or is there also stuff like 4 vs 4 - combats or do you just fight together against the bad?

have fun!

For Fulcrum torps, the generally accepted meadthod for deployment is to fly under your target capital ship, punch the after burner to build up speed, turn off IDS, flip over, line up and fire. you could also try launch and jump, but that takes more prep.

Clue: Approach targets at inertial speed of between 2000 and 3000 pass target at this speed on inertial flip around and when your distance is between 1500 and 2000 units from targets launch torpedo in center of targets while moving away backwards at the given inertial speed to watch the explosion. You can also jump to the coordinates come to a complete halt and wait for the enemy targets to close in to about 2000 units fire torpedo in center of targets and reverse full after burners in IDS to between 3500 and 4000 speed........;)
