Hardware mashup Q

hey folks, got a bit of a conundrum. i'm about stur crazy form the lack of things to do in my free time. near finished with new pc but still a little ways to go before it has its own HD and OS.

i had an idea of slapping the laptop drive into it just so it will work and run everything i own but i'm not sure if it will. manufactures have a bad habit of stripping out crap and replacing it with their own software then slapping an IP sticker on it "so to speak"

main thing i'm worried about is the drivers you can't get from the individual manufactures "the ones ms usually had packaged in its software"

was wondering if this is going to be a massive headache in the making?

Windows on laptops is usually locked (to the hardware?) so you can't run it on a PC. AFAIK.

i tried something like this once before but in reverse. an old sony viao i had some years back crashed and i didn't have the original os that was packaged with it so i used an oem version of win xp . even with all the driver updates i could get my hands on windows did not recognize half the hardware on it "alot of it was chip set related.

was just about bad enough to make your eyes bleed.

so figured id ask before i went into a nerd rage lol

just another reason to hate pre-builds.

i miss the old days were everything interchanged.

I have seen updated drivers not work best, an example is Nvidia whose newer drivers are causing problems with some games when used by some of their graphics cards. I always recommend installing the included drivers first, then update if you have a need or want to.

I used an Intel integrated card once, and some games of mine would be un-playable unless i upgraded, so keep that in mind if ur gonna pull that off though

didn't work. soon as load screen came up it forced a restart claiming power interruption. but everything else works! "doing a burn-in under a live boot linux"

i did however find out that the video card was so friggen huge it covered half my sata ports lol
