Add an option to turn off external (outside the player's ship) sounds. leaving just the sounds that would be heard inside the ship.
I did something to this effect with the mod kit and 'blank' .wav files, but a toggle would be pretty nifty.

That would be cool, but like many already discovered you can use the customizing kit to mod the sound files to your liking.
