I've not been satisfied with most of the freebie face/head trackers I've tried in the past. But this one just blew me away. They recommend a camera fps of 25. My camera was only doing 7.5, and it works like a charm. Needs no additional hardware or anything, just point your camera at your face and get flying. I highly recommend.

If I understand this right. It only uses a "normal" webcam and this software to work?

Thats amazing in that case and very cheap. Got to try this out.

Thanks for the info.

I highly recommend facetracknoir:

Works great with Evochron so long as you have a decent dual core processor.

Hi Zaphod.

I just installed webcam and the software you mentioned.
Works perfectly but it's a weird feeling. Haven't been flying with this feature before.

Really cool. Thanks.;)

I tried this evicam program last night for the first time on my new rig.
All it did was moving the mouse-pointer in-game, not my "head" movement.
I had 3d Tracking on.

I also tried the FaceNoir program and that didn't work at all.

Anyone got this working?
Have any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers, SeeJay

The eviacam states in the description that it works to move the mouse pointer. Try it in mouse-look mode (default F10). Just be careful if you use this for keyboard and mouse flying... Barrel rolls during heavy combat might sprain yer neck!:o

On another note, this may be perfect for another fav of mine - IL2 Sturmovick. The look around options for non-head tracking are a bit sketchy, but it does have a permanently enabled mouse-look function. Possibly this is the poorman's TrackIR I've been waiting for. Gonna give it a try.....

Cheers Rubber.

I did try mouse look in both 2D and 3D cockpit mode but no joy.
I'll look into it again. Maybe I've removed the mouse look key or something LOL. Wouldn't surprise me at all if I did!:P

just out of curiosity does this game have multi monitor support so that its not necessary for face tracking? although having said that it would be signifigantly more expensive to set up

I got evicam working now and tested it in both Mercenary and DCS World (FlightSim).

The problem is that it gets "off-center" when you have moved your head a few times and that was really annoying.
I have never tried Track IR but I assume that it looks more of your heads position rather than just head movement. That should result in that if
you are looking straight forward, the view would be centered no matter on how much you've moved your head.
Webcams doesn't work that way since they only registers movement.

Will not fly this way. Maybe in the future I'll get Track IR instead.

With Track IR you can lock which ever axis you want to lock. And it has default hot keys and one is for centering and when ever you feel it is of center in game you just hit the hot key for centering and your view will center!

I have the tilt axis for left and right tilt locked so that if I tilt my head to the left or right my view does not tilt to the left or right like rolling to the left or rolling to the right and this way I can look straight to the left and right up and down in any direction while my view stays centered to where I'm looking!.....;)
