Hi pilots, and sorry for my English!

This is my first Evochron game and i admit that i find it really awesome, despite i'm an "X series" gamer. :D
So, since i'm a newbie here i need some help.
How do you usally fight inside planet atmosphere?

POSSIBLE MINISPOILER WARNING (MAIN QUEST):

I'm following the main quest, and my actual mission is to patrol an area and follow some waipoints near a city... but as soon as i approach a group of enemies they starts to launch at me lots of missles (too much to counter/destroy, and here is impossible to try dodging) and continues like this until i'm dead. With atmospheric flight my ship can't go faster than ~1200 without exploding, so my space fight tactic based on "hit&run" with inertial flight at 2000 speed doesn't work here :(

Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance! :)

A couple of ways of defeating those reds, and their missiles. First of all, you can shoot their missiles down - you can increase your speed up to about 1400, without burning up, either in forward, or reverse thrust.

You can also launch missiles of your own, get some long range ones, the Exodus is quite good, one hit, one red goes bang. Keep just out of their missile range, using your thrusters, and pick them off one at a time, or, until there's only a couple left that you can take out with gunfire.

You'll see three letters beside each missile selection, can't remembe the order, but the "r" stands for range, "y" for yield (how big a bang they make), and "s" I think, for the speed of the missile.

Enjoy. And, welcome to the forum, and the game - see ya in MP.

As Eclipse says, taking the fight out into space is a good way of evening the odds a little. I set a jump point above the planet at an altitude that keeps me out of the planet's atmosphere, and then fly out of the atmosphere and jump there. It takes a little practice; alternatively you can just fly there.

Another little hint: after I finished with that mission, all of the people on the planet were absolutely glowing... and not in thanksgiving.

... taking the fight outside....
I feel so stupid.... i never tought of this option! :o
ahahah :D

I'll try again switching to Exodus missles like Ravenfeeder said (i mounted Excalibur pack attracted by the "regenerative missles" words, but i see that 3 minutes without secondary fire can be lethal) and taking anyone outside like Eclipse and Wasp89 said.
Thanks for the advice, and wish me Luck! :D

It's not a hint. He's implying you could use FTs ... a weapon of mass destruction. I'd avoid such measures.

Marvin got it. Salvos of FTs from low orbit does the trick pretty nicely, and you can irradiate...I mean, eradicate...them quickly. It's not a great way of endearing yourself to the locals, but it is a good way to finish that contract in short ordinance...short order...so long as you don't mind the explosive cost...er, expensive cost...of the fts.

:o Sometimes I wish Vice would add penalties to this game ... especially when doing the Quest.

Aaah now i got it.... i fell a little stupid for my 2nd time here ahah :D

However since i "rushed" in the main quest (postponing free exploration.. yes i know i'm a "bad guy") i got to this mission with less than 10k credits, so i wasn't even able to buy a single Exodus missle...

... but simply taking the fight outside was enough to succeed! Even if i was ostile in this sector, so in space i was against lot more enemies. I just killed rebels though, and it was enough. Thanks again for the advices.

Now i'm in the hidden planet, wondering how all this new buyable equipment works, but that's another story... :)

 I made a concerted effort today to see if terrain would block missiles. It does. Fly low. Pop up. Fire. Get back down.
