Every time I have seen a stealth generator it has been at the hidden planet in Pearl. NOT a station in the same system as the hidden planet, I have docked at those many hundreds of times without seeing one.

Btw load game, select profile and save, save to a new slot, make trade, load original save gets around the game saving automatically when you trade something etc. No way to protect against that. Works for station building too but you don't get a license to the station.

I know that, hence the use of "btw" and lack of reference to his question. However, his goal is to achieve what the method I posted allows. Your answer was technically correct but mine actually answers the spirit of the question by advising the steps needed to "quit without saving" after performing an action that automatically saves.

Changing "I suppose someone could sell you one, then quit without saving. Then, you save with the component, and then the seller reloads and has the component." to "I suppose someone could save a new profile, sell you one, then quit and reload the old profile. Then, you save with the component, and then the seller reloads and has the component." is not a big stretch.

If what you claim is true and given human nature then it is just one more reason not to play multi player. Too many times its the little bugs that ruin it for people. I try not to cheat myself. But sometimes temptation gets the best of us. And that little devil sitting there on our shoulders going... No one has to know. I normally cheat in all my games. But in multi player games there has to be ethics. But as in WOW and Lineage ][ we can see where those ethics went by the gold and adena sellers on-line and the bots, yuck.


Would be nice to hear from the author on if this is really possible. But then again admitting that it is just opens the floodgates.

I am still planning on getting this game. Counting the days now. So I can explore and go where others have been.

Damn demo has me locked in a certain radius.

It is not a cheat or a bug, nor is it some kind of secret (and this is a spoiler thread anyway). It is just the nature of the save file system. There is nothing that can practically be done about it and there is no question of whether it works. This is not an MMO and saves are not stored server side, you can have as many profiles as you like and do whatever you want with them.

In practice the only worrying thing it leads to is a special save profile where you have a full load of station detonators. That makes blowing up stations in MP a no cost affair. But it is not done to save money, it takes much more time to buy a full load of station detonators than to make the money to buy them (and making the money takes less time than logging out, changing your pilot profile and logging back in).

It is definitely not a reason to avoid MP. I don't know what the other reasons for avoiding MP you think it is "just one more" of.

I simply meant that if the possibility exists to cheat then its a turn off. Because you know some will do so.

As for the save feature I really like the fact that you can go into MP and do missions and they are saved for single play that is one hell of a nice feature.

Tonight was my first time in multiplayer and it rocked. The people where great, friendly and funny. And station detonators are cheap when you factor in some of the un mentioned trade routes.

Now that I can MP will set up a server and experiment.

My main gripe on this whole matter was the fact that you could cheat so easily. I just hope people won't. I know I won't. There are enough ways to make a fortune in this game.

Ya but I was never aware of a cheat before I purchase the game. I mean I did my due diligence in grabbing all info's waypoints hidden things etc.

Anyway. Let us bury this dead horse and never speak of it again.

This is the best Space Sim that I have played graphically and I love the keyboard and mouse handling. With the nebula mod my god this game looks awesome on my 32 inch. I may even drag this thing out into the living room onto the projector and play it on 62 inches.

The absolute best feature is that the game does not leave the main screen when I pop to the left monitor to check system info. Kudos to the Creator. Now if I can just dump windows 7 64 bit so I can run the server I will be all set.
