Hey all,
I was wondering if there are any Evochron Mercenary communities out there? I fly transportation helicopters in an Arma 2 community and we have tournaments, a mod-dev team, TeamSpeak, etc. Does this kind of clan/guild community exist for EvoMerc?
Thanks,
Blackie

Hey Blackguard6, welcome to Evochron! How long have you been involved with ArmaII? I used to be in the Operation Flashpoint community a long while back but fell away when my computer couldn't handle Arma.

There are clans and guilds that you can belong to and fly with on mp. Your clan can control various areas of known space and reap the benefits from doing so. The community isn't huge, though, so don't expect hundreds or thousands of people being involved.

We don't really do formal tournaments that I know of. Every now and then someone will propose a get-together of sorts, but nothing official or regular.

There are teamspeak servers. I can't tell you much about them as I don't use Teamspeak.

Finally, we do have some modders who provide changes to some of the standard objects in the game. Ships and cockpits are the most common mods created. It is also possible to create new universes, vegetation, cities, etc. However, you won't find full conversion mods like you would see in ArmaII and there are many features of the core game engine that cannot be changed.

I hope that helps. I am sure others will be around soon to provide additional information or correct me if I am wrong.

Perfect! Thanks for all the info Accountant. I am just finishing the Honor Harrington series and I found myself searching online for a new space sim that could rekindle the old Wing Commander, Star Wars Rebellion, and FreeSpace 2 environments. The Arma 2 community is still a niche market but the power and flexibility of the community driven maps and mods is pretty well advanced.

If anyone has the TeamSpeak, Vent Info, or clan info for any communities please post or PM me.

Thanks,
Blackie

The game itself has a built-in VOIP. You will find it in the menu.
Many people have compared this game to the old Privateer/Elite genre.
I think you will be pleasently surprised.

Bad Aliens (BA) Clan runs a dedicated, 24-7 TeamSpeak 2 server. Check their thread for its location.
