Newbie Question: What keeps you guys motivated to play this game?

Post by NobleJms »

Hi guys, nice to meet you all. I bought this game yesterday because it gives me the impression that you could pretty much do anything in the game's universe. I also love the fact that you can gradually descend on the planet's surface.

However, I'm just a bit overwhelmed at how large the universe is as well as how quest-less the game is. I usually have no problem with open-ended games, but I found myself keep trying really hard to motivate myself to play it. :(

I'm just starting, so not sure what may happen next as I progress my mercenary career. But so far all the missions are either racing, washing solar panels, destroy asteroids, or lost and found. I do notice in the manual that there's a military rank I can acquire. Does this mean I can join an army or something? Will my actions in the game have rippling effects on the entire universe? Can you pick a side with a faction and ultimately lead a huge fleet of ships to destroy the opposing side?

What goals do you guys set for yourself when playing the game?

I feel this game has some serious potential, and it could just be the game that I've been looking for all these years. But could use some pointers. Thanks guys! :)

What you had state are is sapphere systerm. As you play and get better feel of your ship then you may want to travel out of sapphere systerm into wither systerm.

Once out you will find battle contract, hidding Container to look for, lost planet, lost world, milt battle and that to name a few.

Hi guys thanks for the replies so far. Just a quick question unrelated to the topic of this thread, is there a way I can play my own space-themed music while playing a game (like is there a program I can use to do this)? The game's default music is fantastic, but listening to it 4 hours a day can get tiring.... :)

You can turn off the built-in music and use your favorite media player in the background or you can replace the default music with your own using the options detailed in the customizing kit for custom threat-driven music.

Hello NobleJms and welcome to a great sim.

I am kind of an explorer and note everything I find.
My motivation is that I will never get finished since this place is huge. There are always new systems
to discover/explore.

Also it's really fun joining MP (I always fly there) and do some contract together with
other pilots. You might even get challenged on a PvP practice session which will improve your skills a lot.

See ya out there.

Do your actions in the game affect the dynamics of the game's universe? I'm just a beginner in the game, but is there like a war between factions, and if you join one side, you can change the outcome of the war?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that do all the NPCs in the game have their own agendas and things to do?

A game that implements this very well is Space Rangers 2, which has a totally dynamic universe with everyone constantly trading and fighting wars.
