Tiny Trees Mod (EM)

Post by Leatherpoker »

Hey everyone,

Ok, here's one more mod that I have been working on for EM. I wanted to make a tree mod where the trees were very small to give the planets' mountains and hills a sense of scale. It always bothered me how the plants were as tall as the mountains in EM!

It comes with four types of trees, ranging from palms to pine trees. The tree textures may be easily edited to your taste also.

You can download the mod here:

Enjoy! Comments please also.

Your plants are looking good. Modding the game is so much fun and sharing with other pilots is great feeling. And modelling plants is little tricky, I think you did really good job on that...

Hope to see you other cool mods...

 Nice job, Leatherpoker. As a suggestion, you might create a grove of trees instead. I'm not very good at rendering new objects, but doing a bit of Photoshopping, I took your one tree, stretched, shrunk, copied and pasted ... and discovered a clump of trees really helps fill out a forest. In fact, I'd stretch the graphic across the full length of the background.

;) These are all your trees:

Hey Marvin,

That looks really cool! I think it looks more natural like that...

Did you just edit the png files to add more trees to the textures, or did you actually add more polygons with the tree map on them?

When I have time I'll try to update the mod to include more groves of trees...

 All I did was take your four files, load them to Photoshop, copy each tree, paste them back, stretch and/or flip them, reposition and save. No additional polys ... the entire grove becomes the "X" shape.

;) For the one shown above, I'd probably add another green tree to the right side to give it more of a generic look. But, then, I'd also add the same type of tree ... but not the exact same tree.

:o Using either warsign's or leatherpoker's graphics, I wanted to change the version pictured above for something more generic. But, after warsign completed his "tall tree" mod, I just went with that instead. Additionally, I've changed computers, since then, and can't find the file. Sorry 'bout that.
