Hey everybody! I just bought a webcam ("INVido Webcam" by Trust) when I recognized that it supports Face Tracking. As I know you can use TrackIR and Freetrack in Evochron Mercenary.
My question is if it is possible to use Face Tracking in EM? And if yes, do I need a special program for that?
I\'ve got a solution! :)

Yes. for any Face tracking you need software that can translate the information for Track IR. Even with Track IR you need the Track IR software for the game. The game supports Track IR so anything you can get to work with Track IR software should work....Some others use Free Track that has IR support so they might know more. I just use the software that came with my Track IR 4.0 If the software for Face Tracking supports IR it should be able to work. You have to make sure that EM is in the list of games for Face Tracking if it has a list of supported games for face tracking that is...

At first thanks for your response Maarschalk!
I googled around a bit and found "freetrack" which allows you to use/create a TrackIR-like system by using LEDs.
But after furher searching I found out that there are also programs that can recognize your face just by itself (if i'm right). So you don't need any LEDs or stuff like that.
One example is FaceAPI. Does anybody know if programs like that are working in games (especially in EM
)?
And is there a free version of such a program? (Because I don't want to create an account at FaceAPI... don't know why they need a company name if its non-commercial or why they need to know in which country I live)

faceAPI is an application programming interface. It is a component used in other programs. This doesn't help you directly. You still need to find an actual program, and for your purposes you wouldn't care if that program used FaceAPI or not.
The country information is due to US trade and export restrictions on certain types of software to certain countries, including encryption software and biometric software (which is what FaceAPI would fall under).faceAPI allows you to incorporate Seeing Machines world class face tracking technology into your own product or application.

I don't know if it works or not. But the developer told me today this about OFF (WWI combat flight simulator which I play) and Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator whiuch was not working.

I've TrackIR don't need it, why not try and if it doesn't work why not contact the developer. He seems to be interested in helping.I am busy making update 1.4 for FaceTrackNoIR and thus far I have built in support for Microsoft FS2002/2004 and FSX. I didn't realize that some programs, like Combat Flight Simulator 3 and OFF required additional work, to enable face-tracking.
So this morning I plunged into it and found out that 'the guys' from Free-track had already solved this problem too.... So now I have built that in FaceTrackNoIR as well.

I'm testing right now... I'll write back when I found out something useful

I just ended testing. FaceTrackNoir works great with "FaceAPI" as tracker source and "Fake TrackIR" as game protocol (EM doesn't detect the "freetrack" protocol, at least on my pc).Ursprünglich verfasst von Scavenger4711I also just stumbled over this threadUrsprünglich verfasst von Von Paulus

I think that FaceTrackNoir is a good freeware-solution ^^
Thanks to all of your replies
