Are there any FOSS or freeware modeling apps that can import DirectX text/ASCII (*.x files)?
Common wisdom and Google keeps pointing to Blender, but Blender - at least in its recent versions - only has an .x file export script available. I don't know if some past incarnation of Blender had a functioning import script or not.
I'd settle for a file converter that could serve as go-between to import .x into Blender via some intermediary file format.
How do you import DirectX Text/ASCII .x files?

Thank you.
I was intending to futz around with the Legends kit templates just to see what's what, while awaiting a Mercenary customization kit release. I don't yet have access to any fun Mercenary stuff, afaik.
