Greetings! Just purchased Mercenary after playing about an hour of the demo, most of which was spent getting my controls set properly. I bought Legends way back when, but never really played much due to time constraints and never having a dedicated control scheme. So I know the basics and what the game is all about, but it being so long since I last loaded Legends, I'm basically a noob.
A little background about me: I go by Renic, that's what you'll see me as in-game. I've been in love with the space-sim genre ever since I first played X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter 15 or so years back on my oldschool Mac. I've played every space-sim I can get my hands on, and while most are mediocre at best, the Starwraith games have always been great, and come the closest to my ideal sim without me actually programming something myself.
I play using a Saitek X52 and Combat Rudder Pedals in a custom built seat inside a custom built and still-in-progress cockpit. I currently use the oldschool, blue-lit Logitech G15 for keyboard commands, but once my IPac arrives in the mail I'll be able to create external buttons and switches to control in-game commands. I'm going for total immersion in space-sims, and Mercenary is the first game that I've actually gotten suited up to play.
I have to say, getting a game to control the way that I want has has always been the biggest point for me being able to enjoy it, and with the Arc control option Mercenary passes with flying colors. I must commend Vice on making a superb game.

Having a three controller setup (G940) and a half-way-finished cockpit, I gotta say... once the controls are set up and you have some seat time, this game is VERY smooth.
The only drawback is changing / upgrading ships. I get used to the pitch & roll characteristics of one, then when I got a ship that performs significantly faster / slower, it REALLY throws me off.
Have you got TrackIR yet from NaturalPoint? It's the best gadget I've ever bought for a computer, bar none. Takes the immersion level up to the nTh degree...

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I've been taking pics with my phone all through the build, but I've been having issues getting them uploaded. Soon though.Originally posted by thetiebers

My project for the day while watching football is actually to build a Freetrack rig. I realized last night that I have all the parts just laying around the house!Originally posted by Trent

I picked up the 2, since they had the ones with free shipping and a free cable for $37 in stock. I'm still working on a layout for my custom panel, and until last night, I was at a loss as to what buttons I should put onto it. Looking through the control setup in Mercenary last night gave me a bevy of ideas though. Now I can't wait for my I-Pac to arrive so I can get started!Originally posted by Eclipse
I-Pac is a good piece of equipment, did you get 2 or 4?
