when I try to swap between my Civil model ship and my Mil Spec fighter i explode... for no reason it looks like can anyone help I really like my Fighter
NM, I fixed it,... for now I think it was I still had a science officer when I was switching frames and it was blowing me up :p
Nah, this was just exiting the Hanger, after doing the chassis swap it would just return me to the exterior and I would explode.. antoher thing it might have been was I had too much fuel. but again im not sure exactly what happened. I just deleted my fighter and got a new one after storing my starmaster again..
I had the same experience. I *think* it's what happens when you have more fuel onboard than the new frame can store.

Yeah I also ran into this, but I wasn't sure whether it was having more fuel than you can store or a bigger tank. At the time I didn't feel incldined to test whether it was the extra fuel or just having a bigger fuel tank. I just ran a quick test by swapping to the smallest fuel tank and then back to a size 3 before swapping and it didn't explode. Looks like it is the extra fuel.
I'm on the fence about whether this realistic or just harsh.
Me:"Say chaps, would youy mind getting my other ship out of the hanger. While your at it, put my current ship in the hanger and transfer all equipment, cargo, missiles and fuel to my new ship."
Mechanic 1(Bill):"Certainly sir, please enjoy the station facilities while we swap over your frames."
...
Bill:"Hey Ben, go get that starmaster out of storage and stick the kit from it on the evoch-e parked over there."
Mechanic 2(Ben):"Certainly Bill, what should I do if there is equipment on the starmaster that won't fit on the evoch-e?"
Bill:"The usual, just sell it. We have that special deal with that onboard trader. He will buy anything off the ships being swapped, even if the station doesn't normally trade in it?"
Ben:"Shouldn't we ask the guy whose ship it is before selling his stuff? And which stuff would we sell? Shouldn't we ask him?"
Bill:"Why would we ask him? He asked us to swap his ship for him, selling his stuff is part of the standard contract. And obviously, sell the last stuff on the list, that is why the pilot arranged his stuff like that. Why don't you remember any of this? You swap out ships every day."
Ben:"I do remember, but we have this conversation every time someone wants a a frame swapped for one in storage."
...
Bill:"Did you finish swapping those frames over?"
Ben:"Sure did."
Bill:"Any problems."
Ben:"Just one, silly fool had more fuel in this evoch-e than could fit in his starmaster. You can't sell fuel back the station so I was trying to figure out what to do with the extra."
Bill:"What did you end up doing with it?"
Ben:"Only place I could find room, in the cockpit and engine bay. Had to pour it inside lots of vital looking consoles and stuff. Of course I turned everything off before that so I didn't get blown up by a spark."
Bill:"What happens when" BOOOOM!! "...uh, never mind. Mwuhahahahaha."
Well, you can sell excess fuel beforehanded by "buying" a negative number of fuel units; that way, you won't blow up.
I want in on that excessive equipment deal, though, I have a feeling that guy makes a killing.

Awesome Blackthorne, I had never tried selling negative fuel. I have been dumping the excess by installing a smaller tank to prevent blowing up when I change ships. You could be a fuel trader if you wanted, buy low sell high. Or just get a fuel processor and sell the output, probably not even as profitable as mining.
Bill and Ben have now been fired and replaced by slightly more qualified monkeys/mechanics. Among the changes for 1.092 we have:
- Players can now transfer installed equipment items directly to hangars and back to their ships.
- Removed ship detonation when exiting shipyard with more fuel than tank capacity.
I am downloading the new build now, can't wait to try out the more powerful forward/reverse thrusters.
