How to do contracts in two or more players?

Post by DeepBlue »

If i accept a contract in multiplayer is it possible for a friend to join me and help? If so, how? Or there are special contracts for groups\\clans only?
I saw this feature listed on the game but all I'm doing in multi is playing like I did in single player at the moment D:

If it works the same as in Legends then all you and your friend have to do is do the contract in the same sector and both of you have to stay in that same sector while one of you select a contract and you can help each other depending on the contract or one of you finishes the contract and the other gets credit for just being in the sector with you...:P:P:P:P:P

that's awesome, but how the game knows who is my friend? Do we need to have the same tag on the nick or something?

No, all you need to do is be in the same sector at least that was the case in Legends. Cause contracts are per sector so all non computer generated players are recognized has having completed the contract. How ever if there are other players then you and your friend in that sector then the contract will fail if any of the other players leaves the sector. So if you want to do contracts with your friend just the 2 of you, then pick a sector to do contracts in where there are no other players....;)

It's a pity that there is no 'accept/decline' function when doing contracts with friends.

that sounds awful, i mean, EVERY player in that sector is automatically a "friend" and if he leaved the contract is failed?

dang :\\
I hope it's not this way in Mercenary, anyone can explain it better?

What if I take a contract and my friend lands in the same base and accept another contract on his own?

No 2 contracts can be active in the same sector. If your friend select a contract after you already selected one the sector will tell you contract is already active and that contract has to be completed before another can be selected...;)

For the purpose of doing contracts in Multiplay other players can still be an enemy but doing coop missions you set your differences asside for a common goal. Like the combat missions in the Warzones with the Vonari. The Vonari is the common enemy...;)

oh ok now i understand a little better, still I'd prefer to be able to do solo contracts or to do them with only a friend or two, and last but not least if someone leaves the sector and MY contract gets canceled then I think it's a poor design decision that looks more like a bug that needs to be fixed

I thought the same thing when I read about legends' system but "sectors" are so small compared to the universe as a whole that doing solo missions or "friend or two" missions has never been a problem for me. Is easy to find a quiet corner to co-op with a bro.

In Multiplay with individual players in the same sector it can get complicated because of their different ranks and reputations and pay rates for contracts. So it is ussually best for the player with the highest rank and reputation to choose a contract and all players will get the same pay as the highest ranking one once the contract completes. Cancelled is different then contract failure. You can mannualy cancel any contract. But failure occurs because one of the players broke one of the rules of the contract and one of the rules is you can not leave the sector before contract completes. Since the computer does not know who in each sector is involved in a contract it automatically accept all players in a sector as participants of the contract.

and that's a bit lame I think :\\

When you choose a contract there should be a dialog that display the usernames of the pilots currently in the sector, and should be able to select two or three from there, then accept the contract and then those pilots should get a notify about accepting or not to join in that contract.

Could be very easy to implement, I know the author already did an amazing work with this game but would be great to see a feature like this one added

What if other players wanted to do another contract then the one you choose in the same sector and the other players select other players for his contract. That can cause more confussion for every one. Evochron ussually is big enough for 35 players which is max. To be in the same sector doing contracts many times no more then 3 or 4 players are in the same sector anyways and it is not like all 35 are in the same sector. And the most players I have seen on in EM is 21 players. The more players also involved in a contract can speed up the completion process and your rank and reputation increase. So coop mission is a good way to get there fast....;)

You can also use the tilde key to see if there any other players in the same sector as you before you accept a contract.

Deepblue are you under the impression that there are only like 3 sectors in the game or something? There are hundreds of sectors with stations in them that give missions. Probably ten times as many sectors with stations as there will ever be players on any given server. And if someday hundreds of players are allowed on a single server, and there is one player you don't want to play with in every current sector with a station, pick up a build constructor, jump to a sector without any players, and build your own station and do missions there.

Yes the current system is a bit clunky, but it's not an issue when each sector is a relatively microscopic piece of the game world.

 Adding insult to injury, if Rommie is in the sector, he will get credit for every completed contract. Then, again, so will I ... even if I'm just sitting at the station, enjoying a beer, while you guys are out getting yourselves shot up.

Remember that you do not have to accept a contract link, if you do not want to participate. While the auto-link (for sector only) is in place for a few particular reasons, you do not have to retain that link. Just click on 'Cancel Contract' before the waypoint is activated and you will be removed from the contract without impacting the other players who are linked in. That way, if you want to stay out of it and keep doing your original activity or leave the sector, you can.

That is an exelent solution in Mercenary Vice....thanks....cool.....We from Legends got so used to not hitting the cancel contract thinking it would cancel the contract for every one in the sector, but if it now only cancels your participation in the contract then that is good news......;):cool::cool::cool::cool:

 Did anybody mention clan tags? 'Cause not everyone is a friend ... 'though they all get credit for a completed contract. But anyone with a different clan tag will show as red unless you change him/her to green. And non-aligned pilots will always show as yellow.
