Poor quality demo graphics?

Post by Axel »

I have the demo on 1280x1024 yet the graphics look very poor, not nice tight clean lines like, say, Eve. Is it just the demo that does this.. will I get better graphic settings when I buy the full game?

Hi all, btw and thus far the game seems really good. (apart from the naff graphics)

Graphics in the full game are identical to the demo. Check the options menu for more graphic options. Also, if your videocard allows it, enable anti-aliasing for sharper, tight lines.

Welcome!

Thanks, I do not have the facilty to use anti aliasing (well its not on the graphic options menu anyway). I will try it out on my pc at home, see if it makes any difference. Odd though because I play a few games here at work with no problems on quite high settings.. such as LOTROand Eve online, Mass effect too...

What is the make, model, and video memory capacity of the 3D video card you are using? Also, if your system is rendering detail at a low level, try setting anisotropic filtering to 8X or higher, then test again. 1280X1024 should look 'ok', although the game is more optimized for a '1080' resolution like 1920X1080 (1680X1050 looks pretty solid also). As suggested, AA could help smooth things out on a lower resolution as well.

Please forgive my newcomer ignorance, but I have read about applying AA and anisotropic filtering will improve the graphics, where do you set these options because they are not in the main options menu in the game?

You set these in the options of you Graphics Card/Display Adaptor.... if it is an ATI Card you can do this in the Catalyst Control Center;)

 And if it's an nVidia, check Vice's post on buggy nVidia drivers ... then update a reliable one. When you install the driver, a program to adjust your video settings is also installed. Use it to set AA.
