Hmmm I'm at the same point you are now and I can't find the planet either. The hint wasn't very good lol.

You too huh? So it isn't just me... That cheers me up a bit. I have spent about 5-6 hours searching for it to no avail. I have mostly just given up & gone to doing military mitions & periodically going back to take another look.... Pretty frustrating.... Anyway multiple pairs of eyes search better than one pear of eyes! Drop me a line if u have any luck!

No I'm stuck in the same boat. I dunno what the deal is if you follow the directions as they're given it should be cake finding it. But since it's quite obvious that either the directions are very bad... or they're meant to make you search I'm not entirely sure. The stupid part is there wasn't even a mission in the long chain that taught us how to do this (IE "search" for a hidden planet). I'm almost tempted to go hire a highly skilled navigator to see if that helps. But I doubt it would. The thing is if I remember from EL most planets are "visible" within around 400-600km. So thats roughly 3 sectors. So if you do 3 sector hops around the tipped distance... it should be in that area but its not. So I have no idea.

The worst part is the people that know aren't helping which sort of frustrates me. It's one thing not to give spoilers but when we're AT that point and struggling you'd think it wouldn't be an issue.

Edit: Oh and I've had to drop fuel processors a couple of times to keep from running out of fuel. Those things are great. And I can't give up. Cause I want my damn stealth generator! grrr.

Yeah fuel stations are my saving grace as well. I believe it intends for us to search, but it implies we will find the search easy... But i have had no luck. I read somewhere that hidden planets can't be seen in the nav computer, but i found a hidden planet in virgo that was in legends & it is visible on the nav... As it is i have been searching visually, under the presumption that this planet cannot be detected on the nav.... Who knows? (other than vice) We'll find out though.

Well I'm all for searching but this is rediculous. It said about x sectors away and along the SX coordinate. I'm sorry but I've searched within a 20 sector radius of that supposive point and I haven't seen it visually or on radar OR on nav map. And if we're expected to fly around on thruster power to find it that ain't gonna happen.

I'm relatively new and also searching for goodies. Isn't probes the tool for this kind of exploration?
I have never used them but were going to start as soon as I can start building stuff.

I was about to try paying a constructor stationa visit & get a payload of probes. But i think probes only search within 1 sector which might not have enough reach. But again we'll see...

Thats to bad. I thought you could send it far away until it ran out of fuel/energy or whatever keeps it moving!

I guess the only choice then is the old pattern/grid search procedure!

I don't really know much about probes, i haven't used any since legends. But i thouht the big deal about deployable sensors vs probes was that the deployable sensors have a 2 sector range, but broadcast data to everyone, not just the person that deployed it.

Probes aren't really for searching out planets they're for searching out players/ships. And I found out that the planet DOES show up on your nav map if you get within the 20 sectors of it. And it is a bit off the "track" of the hint.

LoL, nevermind. Luck is the most unpredictable & powerful force in the universe. I am drunk, & have abandoned any pretense of a search pattern, jumping about at random, & bam! Thar she blows!

It's less than 30 sectors from the clue you are given for anyone else who needs help

also the reward is pretty good :)

Yes, that what I figured. If the Hidden planet is still in the same location as in Legends then your X Coordinate was of by about 9 sectors? LOL......:P:P:P:P:P

Spoiler alert:

The Pearl hidden planet is not in the same sector as EL (I assume none are, but I have only checked 2 of them so far) but is not too far away. In fact, one of the sector coords is the same as EL. And as Whytephyre said, it is less than 30 sectors from where it used to be. Using that info you can find it 5-10 minutes using the strat guide or if you remember where it used to be, otherwise it will help you not at all.

BTW I assume the clue/hint you are talking about is the location of the Pearl hidden planet in EL as listed in the EL strat guide? Because the clue I got from the IMG quest text was "higher SX sectors" and not any specific location.

And just to clear up any confusion about how close you have to be, hidden planets will ALWAYS appear on your nav map if the sector it is in is displayed on your nav map. No need to use probes or get within 3 sectors or anything like that. Because your nav map is only capable of displaying at most 17x17 sectors at once the greatest range you can detect a hidden planet from (ignoring SY) is less than 9*(2)^0.5=12.73 sectors=25456km.

Hmmm... that comment doesn't work so well when the old location is given in the very next post. Oh well, not as bad as actually giving the new location.
