NPC Mining
Just started today. I saw that the NPC wingman i hired had the option to mine. Sooo I gave him the order since i was in an asteroid belt.
I watched as my wingman used his tractorbeam for about 10 seconds on a roid then began flying around aimlessly.. This leaves me with a few questions..
1. What NPC ships are able to mine, they have specific names or something to indicate they can mine?
2. When they mine how do i get the resources from them that they pull from the roids?
3. Do i have to buy them mining equipment? if so how do i get them to equip the stuff?

1. Civilian ships (the only ones you can hire) can all mine.
2. They don't give you resources. They sell the resources and give you a cut of the proceeds. It should automatically add to your account when this happens (give it some time).
3. They have their own equipment.

Its a shame lol my wingman only made me 500 credits in the time it took me to fill all 5 cargo bays on my ship..

Me neither. Wow too!
Hi Morrison, welcome to Evochron. Often the AI characters lack a bit of common sense... the number of times I've wanted to shove my crew members in the airlock!! Sounds like your wingman are on the booze!!

speaking of mining pods, can you drop those on an asteroid? I've tried to do that, but always get the message that there isn't a planet/asteroid/etc around to mine; even though I'm basically right on top of it..... figured I might be doing something wrong.

Just make sure the the center of the deploy indicator is in the -middle- of the asteroid you want to mine.

It's a bit tricky. You usually see a big green *thing* when you select the deploy constructor. Place this thing so that the asteroid is in the middle, and it should start deploying.
Same for moons and planets, with the added problem that the mined metal crates are sometimes placed within the stellar body, making it impossible to retrieve them.

You can hire them by opening up the trade screen. At the bottom right of the screen it will say "Hire for x amount" click it and you are good to go.
It currently only lets me hire only one.. if i try to hire others it says they "refuse or are unable to join"
Not sure if this is rank related or not.
