Post by Deadly »

Using a Saitek Cyborg X, and Windows 7.

Even at the lowest sensitivity setting, the joystick is way too sensitive. Often the slightest touch will result in the ship rolling violently to the right (never the left).

My stick work fine with X3 and IL-2 Sturmovik, but they both have a more granular joystick configuration.

Any chance of our being able to alter the values in a config file?

EDIT: Ah...apologies. I see someone else posted a similar issue just before I did. I didn't mean to duplicate.

However, a choice between "high, medium, and low" doesn't really do the trick. At the lowest setting, the stick is still really twitchy.

Glad I am not the only one experiencing issues. This is exactly my issue with the X52 on Windows 7.

Yeah...it's a real pain. I do know the changes to the "dead zone" work...but of course that just makes the over-correction problem worse.

The random "barrel-roll" to the right makes combat almost impossible.

Unfortunately there is no sensitivity setting for Saitek sticks, as they "self-calibrate".

A low framerate can often make it more difficult to input stabalized control to the game (although device quirks like random twitchy input probably isn't related). As the framerate decreases, the sampling rate and response for input from any control device also decreases. When you hold down the tilde key, what kind of framerates do you see in the upper left corner of the screen?

I am seeing a solid 60 fps. Game is silky smooth. Maybe it would be better if the frames were worse. I need decreased response. ;)

I wonder if the devs would consider a sensitivity slider or some kind of axis shaping menu?

 Even so, you can do a "controllability check" that often keeps the stick from drifting.

Deadzone,

I had exactly the same problem. Try Installing the Logitech software and create a profile as mentioned above.

I had to make some extreme changes for this profile - my X/Y/Twist Axis sensitivity to 5% and Range to 50% your Deadzone should be low unless you are getting some drifting.

I also have this problem. My x52 is waaaaaay too sensitive. I'm constantly fighting to correct, then correct my overcorrection. I've also had the same problem in Freespace 2 with my setup, but it works just fine in flight sims like IL-2. It seems like Saitek could release some software to adjust the sensitivity curves (it seems that their SST software does not provide this functionality). Does anyone know how to deal with this or do I just need to get used to it?

I'm feeling the same with my Thrsutmaster T.16000M. I'm always fighting with it. The same happens with Freespace2. I don't have this kind of problems with flight simulators, maybe it's due to the absence of gravity.
Unfortunatelly I don't have software to reduce stick sensibility. I've tried changing the sensibility with EM, but there's no big difference. I'm thinking in using the mouse as a controller. :(

I have a Saitek (Cyborg 3D Force) joystick and was having the same issue but I resolved it by going into Control Panel / Game Controllers and then "Properties" on the stick I am using. If it is the same as mine you will find a tab called Deadzones, it is defaulted to have no deadzone at all, I adjusted the slider bars for the x,y & z axis to increase the deadzone on the stick and then was able to fine tune it with the game's controller settings.

Hope this helps some of you with the same issue.

I use a X52 Pro, and Saitek product for a while.

My only sensitive axe problem is with rotatory, but not linked to Evochron (probably a hardware issue)

That said, I agree with Gordon, the best way is to configure it in the control panel.
The SST is not a "driver". It allow you to manage axes sensitivity but not with the accuracy required.
Unplug-replug the usb cable can help if your saitek has strange behavior (happend rarely but can be).

Should be the same since the last RC. Has there been a driver update or something for Saitek hardware? For anyone who's control seems to sensitive, there is a new control mode coming named 'Arc' that will desensitize input response toward the center of each axis. Should help resolve any such problems.

You did it. :)
With my joystick, Thrustmaster T.16000M, the Arc option is working well.
Finally I can gain some control over my ship.
It's like if I'm playing a different game.
Thanks very much, Vice! :):):)

Funny, as much time & effort as i put into making my x52 profile for legends, i still perform better & have more control with a mouse & keyboard.

No new driver updates ,This install was on a freshly formated system with the same drivers and SSt software.

The Arc setting helps alot but the stick is still over sensitive,I tryed installing the older RC version over the new install and the problem seems to be fixed.....but the Arc setting remains and is no longer changeable, so readjusting to the old settings isn't working.
On the RC version I had sensitivity set to "high" w/ 0 deadzone set in game and a very small amount of deadzone programed in the joysticks control panel.

I have installed a few of my other sims and all so far are functioning as usual.

Ditto. I dumped my stick for mouse and keyboard, for some reason it just feels more natural to me.

Is there a real fix for this yet? My joystick does not have the ability to adjust the sensitivity outside of game; however, it works fine in all other games. I can't help but see that this is an issue with the game.

At this point the game is unplayable for me with a joystick.

I had to install an earlyer build to get my stick working ,then reinstall the newest ,
I think maybe Vice needs to check this .

Have you already tried the new build?

1.092 solved the sensitivity problem of my joystick. Just choose arc in the options.

Where is the arc option? I do not see it in the options. I am trying this version as a demo. Could that be the problem?

Yes the demo oesn't have that option for now.
Maybe you can install the test build over the demo.

But I'm not sure.
Ther arc option is an option for Joystick sensibility, just above the deadzone settings.
