Initial I.M.G. contract

Post by Deadly »

I've played through a few contracts without any issues, but when I decided to accept the initial I.M.G. contract from planet (New Hope?), I found it was not possible to place the satellite into the "green" box.

Similar non-IMG missions worked fine, but no matter what I try, the satellite never ends up in the green box...and the mission never progresses.

Bug...or is there something "clever" needed here?

How are you 'delivering' the satellite to the green box?

I usually make sure my ship is inside the green box, bring up my inv (f3) screen and mouse click on the item to be delivered. It takes a little maneuvering but works most times. Good flying to you.

Hmmm...I was just pressing the "j" key (jettison cargo), since it was the only thing in the cargo hold. It was the same thing I had done previously with the standard contracts for "transport wares" to ships.

I just tried it again, using the inventory (F3), and it worked fine.

Yes, 'J' for jettison is for emptying your entire cargo bay, often the items will just wind up right behind your ship. Clicking on an item will discard it if you're in open space, or deliver it if you in a drop zone. The game should also protect against accidently discarding a delivery item if you click on it while outside the drop zone.

lol I actually struggled with this one too cause the standard transport missions can be completed with "j" while this particular one appears not to be completable with "j". This one you actually HAVE to click on it from the inventory. Which funny enough I'm actually very weary of doing since many times in EL I accidentially discarded or sold things I hadn't intended to by clicking the wrong button.

 You'll get used to it. Also, if the cargo ship is moving, make sure you come in from behind and press the "m" key once inside the box. Then you don't need to rush the "press F3 - find the cargo - click on the correct piece" operation.

Haha, I had to try this mission twice.

The first time, the capital ship said it wanted to trade with me. I offered the satellite since that's what I thought I was supposed to do (I was in the green box at the time the ship requested to trade) and it bought it for $0.

Then when I realized the contract wasn't completed yet and the satellite was gone, I had to cancel and try again xD

Sorry for asking, but where am I supposed to go after leaving the planet? I.e. how do I know where the ship is waiting? ;)

It's a mission. The destination is already keyed into your jumpdrive in that case, just hit F2 after you leave the atmosphere.
