Asteroids/ Mining

Post by Takle »

I've been wondering, when you mine an asteroid, how does the loot table work?

IE..does the asteroid have a percentage of the minerals in it? Can you mine all the plat out of 1 rock?
or does it work more like a loot role?

Also, Crew members..How do you keep them onboard?
I've been checking crew management everytime before i dock somewhere. I even have set it +100, but when i dock sometimes they still leave?

 Asteroids can contain one or more minerals ... as defined in the game files. They don't seem to run out ... but I'd swear the rate of extraction decreases over time.

:o I, too, have trouble keeping a crew happy. It usually costs me four times the going rate!

Save every time before you dock and check your crew before docking and after. So if a crew member jumped ship, you can exit without saving and re enter the game to the point before you docked and do not dock at that station. Also make sure your paying at least 250 to 500 more over the going rate of your current location. If you dock at a place where the general pay rate is higher then you are paying your crew of course they will jump ship in pursuit of a better paying mercenary!.....;):P:P:P:P:P

Ill try paying them even more than i am already. Hopefully that will help.

And i too agree the extraction rate for a specific mineral slows down. Specifically plat.

Unless you have a Science officer and Engineer and you do mining in Lost Rucker. Your rate will decrease a little bit but will stay steady at a certain point since your mining only 1 mineral constantly.....;):P:P:P:P:P

If your crew loyalty is at 100 per cent they will stay with you. One way of not losing any crew, until they are up to the 100 percent loyalty mark, is to get the crew, doesn't matter their loyalty/performance index, head out to a war zone and do military missions from a carrier (not a station).

The crew can't leave from a carrier and their loyality/performace index goes up with every successful mission. Once they reach 100 per cent you can shove off and do you exploring/mining etc without having to pay a huge sum to bribe them.

In case you didn't know, keep the mining beam moving and it will mine faster.
