Noob question

Post by Snaphaan »

Finally!

I just made a transfer a hour or so ago but it will propably take about 3 days to complete. :( So untill then I will try to keep busy with the demo.

I have a question. Are there any mods for the cockpit? I would really like to try some alternatives. I thought I bumped into a post or two somewhere but kind find them again.

You know what I really miss from games like X3, Eve etc. are the cockpits. It really just ads a immersive feel to the whole game. Propably a thing that has stuck with me since my Wing Commander days!

When playing with these uncluttered HUD interfaces it always feels like I'm floating in a soap bubble.

This game really has it all,... well almost. It could propably do with some Gothic/Oblivion-like explorable worlds. Mmm, maybe in the next release?

LOL!

No, seriously. Great game.

Thanks!

Those cockpits look great!

Aaargh! It seems the transfer takes 3 working days. So a quick estimate, I'll have my activation code by next week Monday or even Tuesday. That is SO depressing.

Right now I really need to throw a tantrum, or hit something,... or someone.

ShareIt and PayPal can both be instant in their processing, it all depends on the payment method (ie credit card with ShareIt or account balance with PayPal). If you pay by wire transfer, that speed depends a lot on your bank and it will take about the same amount of time with either processor.

Thanks for the replies/advice!

I'm going to bite the bullet and wait it out. Till then I will propably be spending quite a bit of time on this forum ;)

Another question:

How do you install these mods? I don't see any cockpit, mod or ship directories. Will this only become available when I have activated the game? I tried dumping the files in the root of the gamefolder but to no avail.

It's propably been suggested but maybe there needs to be a mod section somewhere with all the mods listed and organized with help on installing them. Dunno. It would be a bit simpler than searching through forum posts.

thanks again

INSTALL: Create a folder called "hud" in your main game directory.Download mod files and copy(or extract If it is a zip file, probably It is...) in it. Be careful, there must be only one hud directory under your main game folder!!!

UNINSTALL: Simply rename(or delete it If you don't want to use it again) folder like hudXwing etc... Restart your game. Game is looking under "hud" directory for cockpit mods, If you rename it as a different name, default cockpit starts to work again after restarting game...

I am using many hud folders for testing. I named them like hud1,hud2, hud3 etc... I rename one of them as "hud" and starting the game. For unistalling, I rename it its original name and rename another one as "hud". It is that simple...

For military ships, do the same thing, your folder's name must be "ships"...

Good flying...

You can download a Customizing Kit. Even if you don't create any mods of your own, it helps to peruse the ReadMe file for instructions on how to install mods created by others.

Hello Snaphaan. Welcome to this great Sim/forum. I'm new as well and learning a lot by reading/asking
in this forum. The "oldies" here are great and very helpful. See ya out there in Mercenary!

Finally. Got my key yesterday!!!

Thanks Marvin. I'll porpably look into modding sometime later. As a 3D designer I'd love to get my hands dirty on this :)

Warsign
That second cockpit is CRAZY!!! Beautiful work. Are you still working on it? I MUST have it. LOL!

Oh boy. Seems I have invested my money too early. What is this Mercenary? It seems to be Legends but a far better version! This is bad. :( It costs me around R550 for the purchase. About R300 is just the money transfer as well as the currency exchange. Seems I will need to fork out another R500+ sometime. It would have been nice if the developer tried to inform me to rather buy Mercenary.

Dunno, I feel I cheated myself somehow.:mad:

*sigh*

I think I'm working myself up for nothing. When I have the money again I'll upgrade to mercenary.

Till then I'll be trading and exploring untill my social life collapses into oblivion. :D

As a proud owner of Legends, you will be entitled to a discount on the purchase of Mercenary when it is released, so it's not all that bad.

I just bought EL a month ago, so I can see your point. However, after playing it for just a couple of hours I saw it as an intro to EM and started to learn the ropes. I would by another copy of Legends if thats what it takes to keep this great sim to develop to EM. I think it's a very fair price for such a huge game. I have paid A LOT more for games that doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as EL. See you in EM mate.

R? As in South African Rands? Or is that Russian Rubles?

True. Some titles out there are a rip-off. This is money really well spend and I don't 'need' EM right now - it's just the child in me thats a bit disgruntled :)

Blackthorne
SA Rand. It's R200 for the transaction and a extra R85 or something for Rand to dollar exchange. Then I still need to cash-out for the game. But it's water under the bridge now. I think the Rand dollar is something like R7+ for a $1.

Snaphaan. Now I feel guilty.
Because I saw this situation coming and thought "I'm gonna warning him". But I didn't, mainly because I'm new to the forum. Sorry m8. :(
You see, I too was going to buy EL, but before, I took a tour in the forum, and saw the announcement of Mercenary. So I hold my horses and waited for Mercenary. And yes it's a painful waiting.

Ha! LOL! No, this is my own stupidity. I should have paid more attention. Warsign actually splashed a whole advert of it on his post! - I'm so used to ignoring ads on web pages. But it's not all that bad...

I'll be looking at Mercenery at the end of the year, around December. At least I don't have to sit and twiddle my thumbs till then. I can imagine how frustrating the wait is/was! It seems me and my brother will share the expenses - that is, if he likes the game... maybe he'll get himself a license as well.

See you around!

 Snap, I suggest you make the best of the situation and do some (a lot) of exploring in Legends. Complete the two quests. Try your hand at combat. Look for places to make money. But don't spend all your time upping your reputation or getting rich ... because you start from scratch in Mercenary.

And ask questions.

;) Then, you'll be ready for EM multiplayer.
