Is the ability to assign Axis's to keystrokes present? Also any calibration features added?

There are a few new input adjustments and tweaks to the control system, but they should not adversely affect players familiar with Legends. It is designed to work as similar to the original as feasible, most of the improvements being behind the scenes in-code for axis and key/button input functionality. Axis remain axis inputs and buttons remain button inputs. Was there a specific function you were interested in with an axis controlling a button input?

Mainly for me I prefer afterburner/reverse on my pedal brakes and hate relying on profiler software to play-nice with my game. Using a G940 I have a ton of unsed Axis controls.

Boosting energy to shields/weapons could be put on axis controls and maybe camera/view movement. Dunno if I would use them as I have it set up just how I like it, but since some people have spare axis I don't see what harm putting it in would do.

It might be feasible as part of the throttle axis control for afterburner without major changes to the control template, where the top 10% is reserved for afterburner. One issue with handling static on/off input control for something like reverse though is where to put the 'on' function within the range of movement. Some players might want just a touch on the axis, say 5%, to activate a control while others might want it near 90%, with still others right at 50%. And with that comes the option to control where the button turns 'on' within the axis range of movement, resulting in some additional challenges with changes/additions to the control template. Probably too late to do something like that at this point, but I'll keep it on the concept list for review.

 I prefer the BSG configuration: A/B on one of the buttons near the joystick HAT. ;)

I prefer the reverse button seperate from throttle so I can hit reverse while throttle/afterburner are at full. Using a foot pedal to stop throttle and hit reverse seems counter-productive.

 Not if you've only driven a car and never flown an airplane. Think about it ... a buddy of mine always used the expression, "Step on that cigar!" to get the driver to accelerate. So the gas pedal is a lot like afterburner. And hitting the brake is pretty much like going into reverse (something you can't do in an airplane, anyway).

Not how u think, basicallly throttle is throttle. Just A/B and Reverse are mapped to foot pedals. Slam right foot and A/B, slam left foot Reverse, slam booth and Reverse A/B'd.

I also use foot peddles for reverse and thrust, Ive manage to bind Forward inertia + thrust to one and reverse inertia + reverse thrus tto ther other, It helps me strafe alot and its also quick to switch forward and back while keeping my hands doing other tasks.

Hi all aviators!

I'm a Rookie at Legends and just found this new Release info. Does anybody know if it is an "extension" of
Legends or a stand alone Game. Do I have to start my learning curve all over from scratch? That sucks. The game
is excellent so even if I just bought Legends, I will definitely by this Mercenary anyway.

See You out there...

I used Saitek's software to calibrate the Throttle axis to allow for afterburn in the top 10 %, but it was an absolute pig to configure it so it would work smoothly and it still glitches sometimes. So it's great to hear that the throttle axis in Mercenary will have afterburn assigned to the top 10%... much easier to work with.

I would love to see shields/weapons power allocation assigned to an axis, as I have a thumb rotary doing nothing on my x52. I tried calibrating it for that but it was too complex.

I use a program called xpadder, Its really useful allows you to bind any key to any button on any HiD (xbox controller, steering wheels + peddles, psx controllers, joysticks ect), even mutiple buttons, can even use analogue sticks and Dpads to emulate mouse buttons. There is something that dont work with it like keyboards and mouses.

Okay, the news posted on the Mercenary site has raised a couple of new questions for me about the gunner mode. I think it's an interesting feature, especially for the larger, slower frames.

1. How do I get out of this chickensh...err, how does the gunner "disconnect" ?
2. What happens when the gunner disconnects - will his ship materialize out of nowhere, or will he "snap back" into the place where his own ship was before the connection?
3. Does having/being a turret affect fuel consumption?
4. Can we get a picture of a ship with an attached gunner?

Got a funny mental visual from that, Black. There you are, a turrent gunner, merrilly slaughtering everything within range. Suddenly your pilot disconnects, for whatever. And, there you are, in a little turrent spinning around in space. You gonna have to wait for another ship to lock on to you, or...?

Wow. And I'm just now finally getting into Evochron Legends. Still, all these changes make the new game sound like a day-one-must-buy title for me. Will it be on Impulse again? Or maybe Steam this time?

It's ready to go on Impulse, Steam hasn't responded. You can also buy it direct and I would recommend checking out the newsletter on launch day ;)

Personally, I suggest players "direct buying" via paypal. I bought Renegades and Legends like this, service was pretty good...
