Questions from a beginner

I am relatively new to this game and am wondering - what is the best general configuration of civilian vessel for combat?

I doubt that the Leviathans are the best (although I have never flown one), I suspect that the best configuration is probably at the Phoenix or Hunter level; best compromises between the designs. Can you share some configurations that you use and why?

Also, where to get a lot of money safely? I have read in other threads about Pearl. Pearl is a very volatile region and I have been blown up several times by going there. Right now, my preferred means to get cash would be to mine platinum and sell it to a technology planet (where are the best ones, btw?).

Finally, where to get good equipment (ex: best hulls, top end particle beams/lasers, and the experimental fulcrum drive?? Thanks in advance.

Hello chris0101, Welcome to the forum and the Sim. I do like to use the Leviathan as my fighting ship. The ship is determined by your method of fighting and the equipment you want. Mining is the safest way to got cash as you have found out. If the Universe was safe it would get boring. Good hunting. See you out there sometime.

Lost Rucker is about the best place for mining, and selling, platinum - you just got to find it!

Best thing to do is join MP. Lot's of good info traded there.
Mp is not like other games where you get shot at right away.
Most plasyers are willing to help... including the "talking server"!

What's the talking server? I'm not too familiar with the terms around here.

I assume that the lost Rucker that you speak of is near Rucker.

That would be B5 (Babylon5) server run by MM. He talks to the players when he can to help them out when needed.
