i know it's quite silly question, but how do you know that a system has a secret ?
are there any hints IN GAME ?
or do you just keep hitting alt-f2 until you find something?
i have no problems finding some really nice containers, but how about hidden planets, wormholes etc.
i know there is an official guide but i don't want to cheat
Hello kutte128, The way we find things is by exploring. You can use the guide as you mentioned and I would not consider that cheating. It can take a long time to find hidden planets and systems so a little help may be needed. You can always post questions in the forum and receive clues and hints depending on how you ask the question. The Sim is about exploration so have at it and have fun. You can go online (MP) and ask for help there also. Depending on what you are looking for you can also do a forum search but be careful as you get more of an answer than you wanted (lol). Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you out there sometime.

There are also some exploration tactics you can use to narrow down the search. For starters, certain things will happen on your nav console when you get closer to a distant/hidden planet and certain search patterns can speed up the process.
It also helps to hire a science officer. He will give you a heading to any item(s) detected in the sector you've just jumped to. And, if your navigation isn't accurate, you can jump out and back in to the same sector ... by adjusting your entry point, you can triangulate on the object(s).
so if there are things like traffic in the middle of nowhere, i should go start searching deeper?
hmmm... maybe i just should go out there and look for myself

Try looking east, south-east of pearl. The planet will appear on your map when you are close enough. It's hard to find with such vague directions, but good luck. Hope it helps.
PS: hidden planets & stations appear on your map when close just like regular planets, only they are very isolated (in the middle of nowhere). Random exploration & traveling between systems without a gate are you're best bet to find stuff.

i already found that planet in pearl and i found another one with wormhole to another planet i haven't seen before.
one of my mistakes: i didn't realize that those things can be THAT far away lol.
Which brings us to the next important truth in Evochron space exploration:
"Space is big, space is dark, you still won't find a place to park."
Always carry enough spare fuel, there's nothing worse than realizing that that you're halfway to your destination, but the fuel tank is 2/3rds empty. Believe me, I've gotten my fair share of that. Also, get the mantis drive. Totally worth it.

With corner, I actually meant germany/austria/switzerland. I have this long-standing dream of forming a german-speaking clan, or at least enough of a community to talk about the game's finer points in a language where I can actually sound snarky .
Nah, I merely wondered about the nickname. Nice to see a fellow countryman.
