MISSILES.....

Boy, I've learned more this last week on vacation than ever before. Thanks to everybody who has helped increase my fun in Evochron! Now just an easy question for anyone with a little expertise. I know all about most of the secondary weapons. There's just 2 that I'm still a little unclear on. What special functions do Leech & Cyclone missiles have that standard missiles don't?:D

When you get hit with a Leech missile you will know. Your HUD goes completely blank and complete equipment failure and shields failure and you become an easy target for gun fire and the next missile will end your existence....better be moving on full speed on inertia and you might have a chance to survive.......It is a electro magnetic pulse disruptor I think they call it (EMP Missile)...LOL....:P:P:P:P

Cyclone I think is a regular explosive missile. I have not used those much and a long time ago. so I do not quite remember.

Oh yes, now I remmember. Cyclones can stop you dead in your tracks...So you are jumping into combat on inertia you get hit with a cyclone missile and your inertia is gone now you get hit with a lynx and your engines go dead and then you get hit with a leech and your a sitting duck....no way out...unless your dreaming and you just wake up...LOL....:P:P:P:P

O.K. now, I HAVE read the strategy guide (which I find extremely helpful--thanks for having it online.) And thanks for what info I just recieved; however, I'm still a little confused. I knew they were called "kinetic" missiles. But from what I'm hearing, do they just absorb your momentum? I personally never fly without I.D.S., so would I even be affected? Their function still doesn't quite make sense.

so you could theoretically use one to save someone from a fulcrum blast?

Yes, but you have to be relatively very accurate in targetting the FTs but it won't protect you from the blast. It might keep you or the person out of range of the blast. I believe the FTs are time or distance programmed to detonate so hitting it with a cyclone missile might stop it in it's track or change it's direction. I do not know if it will detonate on impact with a cyclone missile....it might thou and you would still be susceptable to the blast if in blasting range..(Note: showing some more restraining, only used the r word once)......LOL...

i don't mean the ft, i mean a is about to hit someone and your buddy is in range, you have a cyclone missile, if you say.. fired it at your buddy, you could.. say... knock them out of the blast radius

That would be a small possibility since the Cyclone missile might damage or weaken your buddie's ship if it is not already damaged the ship might get destroyed and it might not push it out of the blast radius but into it....LOL...:P

Hey guys, correct me if I'm wrong. I've done a little more research through personal testing and re-reading the strategy guide. It looks like the first few missiles up though Exodus are all regular with increasing yield. Excals and Fulcrums I use and love. It looks like the rest are all variations on a theme. Pinpoint a specific system or function of any small craft and temporarily disable it so it is easier--and more fun--to close in for the kill. However, it seems like these latter missiles are futile against larger craft--i.e. capitals. Does that sound about right?

Not really, you just need more of the latter missiles to have an effect on a capital. Say four leech missiles and four exodus missiles well targeted and then a well planned cannon and guns inertia run at close range can do substantial damage to a capital ship. It all comes down to skills, tactics and timing.....
