Hi everybody,

Well so far so good. I'm really loving this game.

I was hoping some of the vets around here could cue me in to some of the more lucrative trade runs within the starting systems?

Up till now I've been mining platinum and selling it on Rivoch, but there must be some better things I can be trading in right?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just remember that everything you buy, mine or find in Sapphire is worth more the farther out you go, with few exceptions.
That includes "everything"!

Press F3 ... then check system information. It'll give you price listings for all the minerals. Find some planet where the selling price is high, do your mining near a city, and sell locally.

Nope. Didn't find any containers.

I have a science officer on board and he was telling me there was a container in the area but try as I might I just could not zero in on it.

Should I have a cargo scanner installed? Is that neccesary to find containers?

@marvin: That's pretty much what I've been doing up till now.
Managed to make 10mil mining plat and selling on Rivoch.

Now I'm looking for bigger profits;)

Nope. Just look for the purple dot on your radar. And try a bit of triangulation (jumping in and out of the sector to see the direction your science officer points to ... it should change, depending on the direction of your re-entry).

No, Cargo scanner is not neccesary to find hidden containers but could be helpfull in identifying the contents of containers and other ships cargo from a distance.

And as Marvin said try triangulation to find the hidden cointainers....

Do trade runs by buying the most expensive items in Sapphire and then selling them for more a few sectors away. A good trade run is one involving an item that is purchased for around 500,000 and you can sell it for a million or more a few sectors away.

I just wanted to say thank you guy's for all the tips u2u'd to me.

I think tonight I just might take the plunge and tryout the online on the B5 server.

Besides romulon is there anything else I should watch out for?

Arms dealing tends to bring in the highest profits. But you might need to venture out of Sapphire to find good deals... only advisable if you're ready for a bit of combat!

I missed Terrasins, I still couldn't beat Jongte. He was such a good fighter. Actually other members of TER, and Darkhorse and "the clones" are skilled fighters too. Back in time, war between humans and alien races were very hard!

Don't worry about TER, didn't see them for a long time. F2 is more dangerous now for you

If you see TER, you are really in trouble believe me. But I think they attack only "clan members"...

If you see Romi, jump near a planet or roid... He does the rest...

It's a shame, but all those pilots mentioned are MIA with the possible exception of the Romulan, whom I have heard had to take two jobs just so he could afford the new game!;)
