Please Add Nvidia 3D Vision support

Post by Ohsirus »

Any chance of adding Nvidia 3D Vision Support? Got a taste of playing FSX with 3D glasses and TrackIR and all I can say was Wow! Really Immersive, and with all the new 120 Hz monitors available now, lot more hard-core gamers are taking the plunge. I know I just ordered a new machine to replace my q6600 w gtx260 after seeing how hard the performance hit was once you enable 3d Vision.

Probably not going to happen with Legends (likely not even possible). However, the new graphics engine in Mercenary should be friendly with their 3D system.

Well , got all my parts in cept my P/S and 1 TB came in DOA :( Luckily my ole 650 p/s seems up to par for now.

Now just ran EL and got 38/75ish/30/1.5gb when I hold the tilde key. Now, I'm curious cause I have the i7 clocked to 3.9GHZ and 1920x1080 MaxVSYNC (In-game) runnin win7 64. If I'm reading it correctly I'm only getting 38fps? I was able to hit 70+ fps on GTA4(Max'd) benchmark. Am I looking at something wrong? If not then even if I could enable 3D, I would drop to about 20 fps :(

yeah I'd say so. at a guess you should be running near ( or above ) 100fps in space

That's what I was thinking, I've been slicing thru every graphic-intensive game I own monitoring gpu/cpu temps. Thinking something's not right with EL's reporting.

It's possible you've got a memory bottleneck. EL is very CPU and memory intensive, needing high performance for both to achieve high FPS. How is your 6 GB of memory installed? If it is not paired correctly with each pair of slots, it's possible your motherboard has clocked down to SDR speeds rather than using DDR, which would have a severe impact on performance in that game. Probably wouldn't matter much with Mercenary, which is heavily GPU dependent, but with EL it can make a significant difference.

Well decided to run some tests since I just spent 2K building my new rig and took out one block of ram, re-ran all tests and no difference. Win Experience score all 7.7s, cept for hard-drive and 3dMark score was comparable to similar rigs.

35 fps usually and I hit 17 fps while on a planet( resolution changes have zero effect). Went online and checked other people rigs/ fps and it seems that we all are similiar in framerates. Saw an athlon 64x-2 getting better fps than my 4ghz i7. It would seem that there is some kind of limiter? Its weird that FSX runs silky smooth, but with nothing, but Space and stars on screen I can't break 35fps. :(

Arvoch Conflict couldn't break 33 fps :(

Correct, it/they won't unless you remove the sync limiter Eclipse referred to above. So for reference, what screen mode are you using in the Options menu? Are you applying any custom display settings in the Nvidia control panel? Anything else graphically oriented or CPU intensive running in the background?

Running MaxVsync, usually I game at 1920x1080 120hz . I stepped thru all the available resolutions and hit 70 fps at 640x480 with everything on low or off, maxed at 1920x1080 all on at about 38 fps. Going from 16bit to 32bit is about a 15fps hit. I even disabled all cores except one and fps remained the same. Does EL support multi-cores? Nothing enables in Nvida control panel, newest drivers, and no background apps.

Ok, interesting results then. In relation to the original topic of 3D support, you'll likely want to wait for the release of the new game both for potential support of that option as well as the needed performance on your system.
