1. Excalibur missle pack is a popular choice amongst players... especially since we are very limited on how much missles we can carry, people just use it instead of having to buy new missles each time after use.
lol, i spose they have an advantage in cost, but they are awfully slow and easy to take out
2. I don't think a Talon can fit lvl 10 engines..... Evoch-C is faster than any other ship in Evochron Legends, period...
you didn't compare it to the Evoch-C, i compared it to the predator and pheonix, and no you can't fit level 10 engines, but you don't need to as it's so light...
the day has ended, the night is yet to come
light and darkness, opposite sides to the same coin, yet what may do not realize is that this coin holds a third side, a side not of either or the other, but of both, a side of twilight. when light and darkness destroy eachother, there is nothing left but twilight, yet aslong as one or the other exists twilight exists within it, that is both the power and weakness of twilight. i am Ryuu Hakumei, The twilight Dragon. The Dusk Has Come
There are ships that can be as fast as the Evoch-C, but they will not have the same armour as the Evoch-C or amount of missiles they can cary....so they lack the missile fire power of the Evoch-C.....

A talon will be fast all the time, but it will be a fly waiting to be squashed...
Look at this:
Talon
Rating: ~
Specialty - Scrap/Meatshield
200 Assembly points (With level 6 engines and everything else at 1 it has a max speed of 1120)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 95 (Excellent)
Raw Armor - 85 (Bad)
Phoenix
Rating: ~~~~
Specialty - Versatility
400 Assembly points (With lvl 10 shields and engine it goes up to 1000 maximum)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 72 (Good)
Raw Armor - 185 (Great)
Leviathan
Rating: ~~~~
Specialty - Tank
550 Assembly points (With lvl 10 shields and engine, as well as a level 11 wing upgrade for agility boost it goes 750 maximum)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 50 (Horrible)
Raw Armor - 280 (Uber)
Evoch-C
Rating: ~~~~~
Specialty - Interceptor
Enough Assembly points for a Class 3 (1200 Capacity) Fuel tank
Speed: 1200 (Uber)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 100 (Uber)
Raw Armor - 145 (Good)
Avenger
Rating: ~~~~~(~) "My Favorite"
Specialty - Heavy Fighter
Enough Assembly points for a Class 6 (2400 Capacity) Fuel tank
Speed - 1050 (Great)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 80 (Great)
Raw Armor - 170 (Great)
Predator
Rating: ~~~~~
Specialty - Heavy Assault Fighter
Enough Assembly points for a Class 6 (2400 Capacity) Fuel tank
Speed - 1050 (I think)
Raw Agility (from the hull) - 75 (Good)
Raw Armor - 185 (Great)
Now I want you to compare something.... the Phoenix setup to the Predator setup....
Phoenix has 3 lower agility than the Predator since they are both on lvl 1 wings
Phoenix has the same Armor as the Predator
Phoenix is SLOWER than the Predator....
This is why I compare it to the phoenix. If you try to do it with a hunter - your speed drops by 100 or something...

i don't like your fly waiting to be squashed comment, i can take down anything one on one in mah talon(which hapens to be my ship of choice)

Flies are relatively fast but ones they are out of fuel, weapons and energy they are just flies on the walls waiting to be squashed....relatively that is of course....LOL....

hey, i never take a hit to my sheilds against cpu, with such a light frame, fuel usage is negligeable and when someone's missiles can't hit you, you only need to hit them with one missile to have an edge

Flies sit on the wall in the sunlight to recharge their energy. So once they dock to recharge and refuel they are a sitting duck. Only difference is a duck is relatively bigger....LOL....:P:P:P:P

That's a pretty subjective request, chris, but I will offer my two cents worth.
I like the Hunter or the Phoenix, with 4 cargo bays, 8 harpoints, a crew of two and I think 5 or 6 equipment points.
Engine & fuel tanks are up to you...
Good Luck...

It's a compromise, but I think that its the best one for my style. I like to joust. One serious drawback about this config is that it seems to burn fuel really fast.
You get 70 agility (just 2 less than the Phoenix), 100 less speed, but for 50 extra assembly and slightly more armour (200 vs 185). It may be the best compromise here.
This "slightly less" needs to be put into perspective. The Evoch-C handles like greased lightning. The Avenger has decent handling, and the Predator in comparison is too sluggish for my taste. Then again, I swear by the Evoch-C and haven't touched a Leviathan since Renegades, and my favorite civilian frame is by far the phoenix.
Also, you can buy the avenger before you are able to get the predator, and I prefer the looks of either Avenger and Evoch-C over the fat flounder.
Military ships are comparatively fast, sport class 10 shields and have decent handling (compared to civilian hulls of the same armor value). As usual, your best defense is not to get shot in the first place, but even if you get hit, the shields ensure that you have a second chance to screw things up.
Lack of crew space means that you won't get the benefit of an engineer, and the frames are rather expensive to repair. Also, you have no cargo space, which severely limits the types of missions you can take. But if you need to kill things dead quickly and in style, you can't go wrong with a military frame.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
This guide really helped me out quite a bit a few weeks ago, when I was just starting to get into the military side of things. Having worked my way into an Evoch C, I must say, one of those, with excals. (ok... ok.. anything with excals.) Is just ludicrous. The ship handles like a dream.
This is an awesome guide, and thanks for your work!
Ive recently gone back to the civvy frames. I just like having a crew and cargo space. Sure, I can't get knocked around as much, but the diversity of missions helps. Not to mention a well stocked crew can be pretty helpful.
Great write up, and I also cannot wait for when we get our hands on the federation frames.

I have tested the Evoch ... I think that she is a very agile ship. That being said, I have never had the opportunity to test the other ships.
Going back to the original question, just how much stronger are the shields on the Avenger versus the Evoch and how much stronger are the shields on the Predator versus the Avenger. Are they the same? I suspect not ... it was hinted earlier that the Avenger is much stronger in shields. How much though?
I suppose then that's the reason for an Evoch over a Predator. Same shields, much faster, but for somewhat less armour.
I wonder if military ships have a better capacitor than their civilian counterparts? Probably not. I find that with a 100 weapons ops officer with a banshee, I can shoot for much longer than I otherwise would with a civilian craft rather than a military one.
