last time I worked with the Legends Server you could not run the game on the same machine as the dedicated server ( at least at the same time ), though it's worth trying

do you have any experience running a web server?
If you do I've got a bunch of .php code and some 'beta' stage mod stuff for legends.

You cannot use the server machine for any other purpose while there are players on-line.
You cannot play on your own server.
Other than that, you are welcome to run a server.

That's not quite true.
First off, what I meant was that you cannot use the server to play the game & connect.
But even if you had another PC, if you tried to join the server there would be a terrible lag anytime another player or more were in the same sector as you.
You could join by changing the IP and connecting via LAN, but that's the only way to effectively play the game.

Yes, as it is, you already sometimes get lag with certain other players in the same sector as you are...:P

Thanks all for the replies. Glad to hear that the server version is just that, a server only machine. And yes I do have experience running web servers so if you want to PM (aka U2U) with the details, I'll be gald to take a look at what you have.

Uhh, this just like a curse you know!

Operating a server is not that easy, periodic maintenance(sometime unexpected!!!) as plus!

Official server(SW) is very good for players especially new ones as well...
